He has cheap book cases. Ha, yeah, that's one of the things I thought about. This guy has like, maybe $500,000+ worth of Lugers and a bookcase from 1995 Wal Mart. |

What are the little stamped metal dohickeys sitting between a few of the Lugers on the shelves?
Kharn |

Love that stuff. Time to invest in a better camera and book cases though.

Wow...that is like $2000 if you went to a gun buy-back.....then you could use that to buy a used Olympic Arms AR15 on gunbroker

Kharn If I'm not mistaken, loading/take-down tools that were serialized to the pistols and kept in a slot in the issue holster. I've handled original complete sets of Wehrmacht Lugers before, and it's quite the experience. I had a shot at buying a set of five consecutively numbered pistols, pre-war production that somehow never got issued out, and only passed on the chance when BATF told me I couldn't import them as an individual. My price, in 1986? $2,000.00. Value today? I don't even want to know, but I'm pretty sure it would be about half of a house in a decent market. Those pistols were pristine, and complete. I was later to find out that the BATF person who answered my inquiry had likely been mistaken in their interpretation, and that I could have brought those pistols back. <sigh> |

Neat...someone actually sold one here on AR15.com back in 2006 for $2500 (the gas gun.)
Edit: Dropped the price to $1500, actually. http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=7&f=131&t=353956 |

Old gunsmith friend was telling me about an importer that had them back in the 60's in a 3'x3'x3' crate that they stacked the luger's in then filled with cosmoline. I believe he said they were something like $60 back then.

Here's a video of that Manville gas gun being fired with flares. Pretty neat, actually. Funny video, too, the guy apparently didn't trust it much, donning a suit of protection to fire it. I didn't realize those were from the 30's.
