Damn.

That's weird. I saw him on a magazine a couple days ago and thought, "I wonder what he's up to. Haven't seen his name in a long time"

I certainly respect how fast and good he was with a pistol.

But,

He did not seem like a fun guy to hang out with. He seemed to have a very high opinion of himself that i would find off putting.

Tactless of me to speak ill of the recently departed.

Just got a text from my brother telling me that he'd passed on, was gonna post about it but you beat me to it.  RIP, Bob.

Negative comments about him I've made aside, he was a damn fine and fast shooter.

My sentiments exactly. He seemed like a pompous, self absorbed, indignant, egotistical jerk off.
All this based on my experience in watching him on TV.  Theres no debating he was a hell of
a pistol shooter, and in the end I guess thats what I respect most about him.  Anyone able to do
what he did with a gun obviously loved the sport/game of shooting and dedicated a large portion
of his life perfecting that art.

I'm smart enought to know that his TV persona is what he wanted portrayed and probably has little
bearing on the type of person he REALLY was.  If it's true, then the world has lost a great shot.

The only person faster than Bob Munden was Bob Munden.  And the only way to verify this was to ask Bob Munden.

He was really good at tuning single action revolvers and he was one heck of a pistol shot and had a very fast draw.

Now he is with the other great gunmen...  Skeeter Skelton, Jeff Cooper, Elmer Keith..  more names then I want remember.

RIP Bob Munden.

Same here.  I would actually go to the range after watching and badly try to reproduce his trick shots that didn't involve quick draw.

I met Bob Munden in 1988 and again in 1991.  Spent a couple of hours BSing with him the second time I met him.  I found him to be a very pleasant guy and fun to talk to.  He had some real good jokes and he shared a bunch with me over a soda.  The first time I met him, he did seem to be somewhat stand offish.  I watched more than one punk want to slap leather against him for real.  I think that's why he was the way he was.

He'll be missed for sure.  RIP Bob.  Give Jerry Ahern my best when you see him.

Sadly, I agree. I get tired of penis measuring pretty quick. Every interview I heard of him he could have just said "I think I am better than you." and I would have gotten the same thing from it.
