M-1s –– both Garand and carbine.
I also have a hankering for a good 1917 Enfield. |

All of them? I'm going to go with that. http://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx116/MVolkJ1975/Living%20Room/wall1.jpg Now that's one hell of a nice collection that you can be proud of. Outstandlng! And I know MANY board members love the m-1. I understand. |

My Russian 1943 91/30 was my gate way drug.....
Now I have 3 Mosins and a Yugo Mauser. I had a 1917 Eddystone when I was 19, but my eyes were not good enough to really shoot it and I couldn't afford to shoot it. Now it's the only gun I really regret selling...... I wouldn't mind having back that Ishapore Arsenal Enfield back too. I might buy a last ditch Arisaka as a conversation piece but not to shoot. |

I love all of them , but I will always have at least one Enfield in the bunch.
Swedes and Argy are just smooth and have that old world craftsmanship. M1 Garands and Carbines along with Ka98k s are just great pieces of history. |

My funnest c&r is a mosin sniper with pu, I think just because of the cheap ammo, relatively smooth lightened action and 3x optic

I knew I wouldn't make it in before MvolkJ or 57Strat's awesome collections before I get home from work and take a new pic of mine. So this is a temp placeholder.
My answer is of course, all of them. |
Gonna have to go with all of them.
I have yet to shoot a Milsurp rifle that I didn't like, and I've shot a good many of the more common ones. Only ones that really escape me are some of the harder to find semi's. |
Quite easily the Finnish m39's especially the 60s and 70's sneak rifles.
I have half a dozen mauser actions in the closet in various states of disrepair. German (Anberg), Czech, Argentine, Siamese...
Finn Mosins....
M28/30 Finn capture 91/30 in Finn wood Finn Tikka 91/30 ( 1944 ) M39 ( SAKO) 1943 Arsenal fresh M39 ( Sneak ) 1967 and my Swiss stuff Yeah I have US stuff as well. |

Nice carbine there.
I like them all except for the Carcanos....Hell, the Finns threw them (7.5 version Mussolini sent them) in the ditch as soon as they could get their hands on a Mosin. It says a lot about a weapon when a warring nation that needed all the rifles they could get would just throw them away. I'm partial to .22 military trainers right at the moment but I did pick up a well worn (nice shooter) Winchester M1 Carbine in a high wood stock last week at a yard sale for $75.00. http://oi45.tinypic.com/2rpeoig.jpg http://oi48.tinypic.com/zy6dt2.jpg I had a buddy take one of his M1 Carbines an convert it to a 45 Win Mag. There was a guy years ago that did the conversions. Tim LaFrance? Yep that is it LeMAG Co.. Nice Carbine.. |
The only two I'd be interested in are the Garand and maybe a Swiss K-31.

I say the ole' 8mm mausers are great all around hunting and paper shooters. What is your choice? Agree about the mauser. I like the mauser k-98 and the m-1 carbine. I really don't care to own any other milsurplus rifles. I especially don't care for the m-1. I don't know why. I just don't. I would have preferred to carry the m-1 carbine in Vietnam rather than the m-16 actually because I wasn't a front-line grunt in the shit every day. Some of the ARVNs had them as I recall. 8mm ammo is getting harder an harder to find these days. I don't think many if any countries still use the 8mm. |

M1 Garands of course!
Then comes M1 carbines, 03A3 Springfields, Lee Enfields, Mauser K98k, Mosins...hell, I even have a soft spots for Italian Carcanos. |

Enfield 1917...a real smooth operator. I like the 1917. One of these days I'll find a deal on a K98, but I'm not going to rush into finding one. If I could have any rifle from World War II, I'd like a last ditch Arisaka with the chrysanthemum, just because it is an unusual piece of history |

How old is old enough? My FAL parts were made by BSA in 1958. Overall I tend to favor the very overlooked MAS 36 and 49/56,they're really good guns that usually just attract "herpaderpsurrenderederp" comments. You mean your L1A1 parts were made by BSA in 1958 |
For price and firepower the mosin is the easy winner and my choice
No4 MkI* Lee-Enfield. Mine is a Longbranch from 1944, FTRed in Fazerkely.
I was big into mil-surps when I became old enough to buy firearms.
Cheap. Cheap to feed($.05 8x57mm!!!!). Fun to shoot. Pieces of history. The K98k and the No4 MkI were the favorites. If I could do it over I would have saved and bought a nice M1 Garand instead of buying several $70-250 surplus rifles. |
Garands, 03A3 Springfields and any flavor of Enfield except the Jungle Carbine.
That Mosin-Nagant M44 was a "blast" to shoot, too. |

The best surplus gun I've owned was a Lee Enfield 1905 No1 Mk1***
I still regret selling that |
