I've gone ridiculously fast in CG DPB's, but I don't know about a pontoon boat. Not designed for speed. One single wrong move and disaster.
Especially seeing how nobody was wearing PFD's. -SleeperShooter ETA: damn autocorrect |

Is this one of those things that just should not be done even though it can be done?

I'm not sure how to feel, someone has realized my dream before me. Do I need to find another dream?

Waiting for the next "dumb shits hitting a wave wrong and bouncing around in the boat like ping pong balls" video.

FYI, This is a one off boat that was engineered at the factory to do this. It's a pretty impressive build!

Pontoons are light. That thing has a CG way far back, look at the power off trim. They also have lots of area. That thing is a ripple away from kiting at that speed. Even 50 MPH is scary.
|
|
Could do around 50 mph in my 22ft boat with just a 150hp 2-stroke.
Not much was in the water. |

Does he take his boat out in the chop? I shudder to think about how that pig would handle off the coast up here with green water coming over the bow. |

from another blog in 2010..
"I hear a lot of negetive comments about a Pontoon running 100mph and why you would do it. Brad Rowland is a good friend of mine and we boat on the same lake together (Lake Shelbyville Il.) if anyone thinks that brad just bolted on 3 X 300x and went 100 is dead wrong. Brad started with 2X 300x and spent 3 years dialing it in to finally run mid 90s he just moved to the trips and has only had about a month of set up time. What is so great about Scream and Fly is that you can do a search on your boat type and get pretty close on set up right out of the gate. These guys with the toons don't have anything to start with, they are in uncharted waters on set up and are learning as they go (just like the guys who ran 100 with the inline). I know Brad has been fighting balance problems due to the added weight in the rear but he never gives up. If you ever get a chance to look at the boat up close you will see all of the mods he has done to the bottom of the logs. By the way he has had it out to 107 in good water and this boat weighs about 1300 lbs more than is old one not counting the 3rd motor (1300lbs more is about 3 times what the 100mph inline hull weighed) Brad Rowland works as hard to make Tooned In run as any of us and my hats off to him Congrats Brad" |

Wow thats a lot of power for a pontoon. How long will it be before he goes airborne?
|
|
Needs powered forward canards set to keep a specific trim angle to keep it from taking flight.

My dad has a 38' Fountain C/C boat for gulf fishing and he can't run that fast by a LOT. They are rated for quad 300's and even those can't touch that pontoon boat within 15-20 mph. |
