What is the movie or movies that you have watched that have left you either thinking "what the fuck?" or scared you shitless for days. For me, gore and things that make you "jump" don"t seem to scare me. Supernatural and unexplained shit, if it gets to me, can fuck with me for a long time. A few such movies are the original Excorcist and Event Horizon.

The Devil's rejects.....wins hands down. For the fucked up factor, and the fact that I belive people like this walk among us.

When I was a kid, Amityville horror, and Silver bullet.

The Changeling 1980 is the creepiest/scariest movie to me and I've seen a whole lot of horror movies made in the last 40 years.

The Exorcist.

Torture porn shit doesn't count as real horror IMO.

eta- a Korean film called Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance by Chan-Wook Park (Oldboy) is the most disturbing thing I've ever seen.

Silence of the Lambs.  That scene where she goes down stairs is terrifying.  I think they made a list of phobias and found away to put them all in one movie.  That movie still gets me.

The Hills have Eyes scared my wife.
Posession/demonic type movies give me the willies - Exorcism of Emily Rose would be ranking up there for me.

Dead Girl

Two guys exploring an abandoned mental hospital find a dead girl in a barricaded room in the basement.  Only she's more like a zombie than dead.  They proceed to sex her up, stab her shoot her etc and she won't die.  Truly messed up shit.  It was creepy at first but when they started screwing her I had to turn it off.

Shock value would go, hand's down, to a movie called "Chaos".  About two teenage girls who go to an outdoor concert...but never make it home.  totally fucked movie.

The Dawn of the Dead documentary is one of my favorites.  Redefining the mobility of zombies was huge.

The Hills Have Eyes was certainly interesting. Worth a watch.

That's a sick, sick movie in some scenes.

Other than that, I think there is some political allegory.

My nomination would be the movie Martyr .
It starts out one way and just when you think things have settled it just goes off in a totally unexpected direction.

Event Horizon sucked hard. It failed to raise even a little anxiety let alone scare me shitless.

Have you ever seen Martyrs or Borderland?

They're both fucked up and believable all at the same time.

When I was a kid it was some cheesy old movie about a blob that would suck your bones out and leave a fleshy pile.  Seems it was a blob looking thing that was in the woods and it had an antenna or something on it.  Scared the poop out of my brother and I and we had to sleep in mom and dad's room for a few nights.  Finally decided if I was going to die there was nothing I could do about it.  I was ok after that.

When I was young, between 5-10 years old, Phantasm movies scared the ever living shit out of me.  I also HATED that movie It by Stephen King.

Now they seem corny compared to today's gore.  I can't imagine the terror today's children have if they end up sneaking and watching crap like Saw.

John Carpenter's The Thing.

Watched it alone, at 12, in the middle of the night, while we were socked in after Christmas at my grandparent's house in the middle of nowhere from one of the heaviest snowfalls in decades.

My parents didn't understand why I spent my allowance on a pack of road flares at the gas station the next night.

You mean "The Blob"?

I wasn't a fan of The Exorcist or the Damien movies. I don't enjoy supernatural horror flicks.

Do tell.

There was an episode of The Little Rascals where a couple of midget bank robbers dressed up like babies. There was a scene where Alfalfa or Spanky was pushing one of them around in a carriage and the fucker was smoking a cigar or something and talked in a deep voice. It scarred me for life. I have an aversion to little people because of that show.

The Human Centipede.  Screw that movie.  The only other that has bothered me was the Exorcist.  I will never watch it again and actually don't watch occult movies, or whatever they are called.  Satan is real and I don't enjoy watching those types of movies (the Omen included.)..  But I enjoy general horror/slasher movies.
