From a boating event we had downtown today.  Figured I'd grab a photo of the memorial while I was there.  The girls were laughing like crazy while being pelted with water balloons.  Fairly accurate super soaker fire was returned as well.

Shame they only got two floats in the water before the event got cancelled today.

Can you explain the raft pics? I'm guessing people are throwing water balloons, or something similar?

It's part of the challenge.  You can use anything to make your raft provided it isn't a boat or like and it has to be held together with a minimum of one roll of duct tape.  The floats can get all sorts of crazy sometimes.  Had a guy that taped together a bunch of 55 gallon drums and a lawn chair one year.

Those that survive the onslaught of balloons and the river, win or at least get to the end.  They are supposed to be giving away a truck topper and some other goodies this year.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into it. I'm strangely happy with it already. For some reason I'm faster and more accurate with it than my full size Colts. With shorter sight radius and barrel you wouldn't think so.

The pier was Rodanthe Fishing Pier and the house we got was about 100 yards from it.  Rodanthe is about 30 or so miles from the main part of the Outer Banks and is known as a big destination for surfers from the Nags Head area (at least according to the wife who lived there for a time) because of the better waves.  It was a lot of fun and some of the waves we were getting made me think we were in Hawaii or something.

I forgot the 4x4 areas have houses on the beach, and the beaches are much "wider"
