Just back from a couple of weeks in China. I love what the D810 can do handheld, available light.
   The last two are in a dark theater, with stage lighting only. |

Well, one of my new lenses showed up today. I'm hoping to take it out and snag a few geese photos later tonight, but so far I'm impressed. Only complaint is that autofocus clicks a bit when searching. If it gets bad or annoying I'll just return it for replacement. Sucker is heavy but nice though.

Took it out and put about 200 shots through it. The clicking went away, so I guess it was just stiff or something. I'm going to need a lot of practice though, I had no idea it needed that much light. Since Willow Grove NAS closed we don't see too many .mil aircraft around. These two Blackhawks flew over on Sunday and I got them with my iPhone 6.

Well, I think I got the 70-300mm telephoto worked out. So long as the aperture can be zipped down a bit, it gets fantastic photos at 300mm.

So, that 50mm 1.8f works pretty damn good for Aurora photos even though it is pretty much a 75mm on my crop sensor camera.
1.8f iso 800 2 second exposure
