Wow. If anybody ever questions the need for eyepro, show them that picture.
I think OP has the right to call TargetTarget out to a pit thread, at the least. And re: the police taking the gun, cops will hold stuff like this where there is some chance of it being evidence in a lawsuit, or just for safekeeping (as OP was getting taken from the range in an ambulance) In and of itself, that's not a sign of inappropriate behavior. Let's see if he gets his gun back before jumping on them. |

The barrel did not blow up.
Here are some pics. I'll put more up when I get the gun from he police. Edit: the 2 rounds before it went off fine, one being a hand loaded soft point. They both hit their target. The action is jammed close and the police could not get it open.

The nurse did not want to take the jacket off my face, because she thought half my face got blown off. They stopped the bleeding and I had to get a scan of my head, there is 20 pieces of metal in my face, and 6 will never come out. I will post pics of the gun when I get it back form the police. I'm glad that it did not turn out worse. I hope that you recover quickly. |

You guys never been hurt? Very often when people get ROYALLY fucked up and there is a whole lot of adrenaline in their system, they tend to concentrate on one task no matter what. I think it is a psychological stress mechanism, helps to get the mind off the fact that you are royally messed up. I had this happen to come couple times too, you tend to concentrate on a "normal task" after getting hurt badly.

A lot of people do not undertand that a case failure can destroy even the strongest gun. When you handload for a rifle, you should always use your own virgin brass or once fired commercial brass, never range pickups. Fire 5 handloads thru the brass and then discard it. You can get more loads out of a case, but you don't want want to find out how many. Same deal for autoloading handguns. Straight walled revolver brass you can reload until you start seeing splits down the side of the case. A case head failure on a rifle case or autoloading pistol case, either from an overload, case failure, OOB firing, etc can destroy the strongest gun. The early selling point on the remington 700 was the "three rings of steel" surrounding the case head. Because case failure is very very dangerous. One of the reasons glocks blow up is because the feed ramp is oversized to promote reliability. AKA a badly designed POS. But that's another topic. PS - Yeah, yeah, I know guys use range pickups and "never had a problem." Also known as good luck. |
