If you need more horses than your 350 can provide, Sonny Leonard now offers an alternative.

I would imagine the fuel mileage would be pretty poor. But with it producing something on the order of 2200 horsepower naturally aspirated (or 3000 with a nitrous system), I suppose it is a tradeoff many could live with!

As to performance? In 2,425 lbs pro modified race cars, these things will certainly dip well down into the 5's at over 250 mph. In fact, similar engines from Sonny's in the 900 cubic inch range are already doing that.

My gosh, just look at the massive size of those cylinder heads! I want all the enviro weenies to see pics of that engine. It should send them into an immediate panic attack. LOL.

We're talking at least a hundred grand.

Not impressed.  It's huge, bulky, and is pretty much limited for use on a dragstrip where you only care about how much fuel is used in a 1/4 mile.  Unless you have a custom built front end, it's not going to fit in anything.

Yep, along with Reher-Morrison who is developing a similar engine.

I don't know if "as pictured" is right, but it's $117K for a complete engine, ready to run.

It's huge and bulky because it's over 1000 cubic inches, which is, well, huge.

It's not pretty much limited to drag use, it IS limited to drag use, except maybe if someone uses one for tractor pulling or something like that.  Since drag racing is the only INTENDED use for this engine, that seems like a non-issue. If you need an engine to help your fuel economy, common sense tells me this isn't it (nor is it intended to be).  This isn't the answer for your anemic performing Miata, for example.

Every car that this engine will be installed in will be a completely custom built chassis. Most any existing full tube prostock or promod chassis drag car will have room, just need to weld in tabs for the engine brackets.  NOBODY is dropping one of these into a stock chassis car.

Imagine an engine with this much displacement with a massive supercharger, burning nitro!!

I worked on this one quite a bit, and it is streetable:

Schubeck 904

Biggest problem with the engine was Joe's piss poor business practices...

since i doubt he's started skimmp'n on the internals that sounds pretty good when you consider the going rate for hp anymore.

Since I can't yet find video of one going down the track, this is about as close as I can get. Todd Hoerner in the Pontiac GXP ran a Sonny's 828 with EFI this past season in Top Sportsman. Keep in mind this is an 1800 hp engine on all motor. The second video is Dennis Radford's Duster, who runs either a Sonny's 864 or 902 nitrous assisted "mountain motor" in NHRA Pro Mod. And the last one is Troy Coughlin running the same type engine in his Jeg's Camaro back in 2010 (he has since gone to a turbo).
