To make sure you're not an idiot and are capable of basic reasoning and therefore theoretically able to follow safety protocol?  <––WAG

Determining if a person has simple reasoning skills, if they fail to connect simple word association questions then how in the world can they follow policies, procedure and rudimentary skills.



Add some specifics in the areas of safety and you can see how a trainer could identify problem persons in these areas.



Being educated does not mean you can connect the dots in your mind and it surely hampers a hands on application.

I can't imagine how many labor hours were lost on a 185 question safety survey.

Those questions don't have anything to do with anything on the face of the earth.  They only represent some sad, pathetic cube-dweller with a PhD in Advanced Underwater Psychology for Human Resources trying to justify their paycheck.
