HHC 1/35 AR mortars out of Baumholder and was down there a couple of times. I was HHC 1/35 in Baumholder too, tank mechanic. Were you there for the transition from 2/68 the fuck up to 1/35? It was one of you guys that snapped that pic. His nick-name was Zulu. If you were there during that time, I'm sure you'll know who I'm talking about. |

I used to have a ton of pictures I took when I was in the service of my buddies, myself, and places I had served.
Some years after I got out, I was moving from one residence to another, and while packing for the move I came across the pictures and said to myself, "who cares about these old photos?" - and I threw them away. I still to this day do not know WTF I was thinking. |

I might actually still have a few, and I plan to look around tomorrow. |

With the 48th...I'm sorry ;)
Spent a year and a half with them....got to 'em right before they left for Afghanistan. Sat that one out as part of my agreeing to do some time in the Guard after Active. Hadn't been back from Iraq for too long ;) Quoted: Quoted: Rockin' a 20? Is that a phillips-head screw in your arm? NYS left a bunch of 20s when they RIPd. I used the 20s as 100% tracer mags. easy to tell what I grabbed by the mag size. My initial mag was always a 20 if we were doing a mounted patrol because it was easier to get in and out of the MRAP TCs seat with a 20. OEF 7 I was there with NYs 27th http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27th_Infantry_Brigade_Combat_Team_(United_States) attached to USMC 2/7 When I extended I was initially with the ILNG for OEF VIII http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/33rd_Infantry_Division_(United_States) When they RIPed out I was then with the GA guys for part of OEF IX: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/48th_Infantry_Brigade_Combat_Team_(United_States) http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q72/tc556guy/OverlookingtheValley.jpg So I wore different patches in pictures depending on when the pic was taken. Thank god for velcro. The IL guys hate their patch because everyone mistakes them for medics. I think everyone complains about their patches though. |

Not a Vet, just wanted to say thank you for your service Thanks to you all! I just ended an IM exchange with a seasoned combat veteran. I was telling him that no one can appreciate the sacrifices of veterans more than the veterans themselves. I emphatically wish the best to all of you, you men did a spectacular job. Thank you for serving our nation. ETA: I apologize if that seemed to take away from your post. Veterans absolutely love civilian recognition. |
