Had to trade it for a pack of smokes at the Geronimo DZ convenient store "The Box".

When I first jumped into JRTC in 93, it was Fullerton DZ.  Damn, I'm old.

Also, just came back from a rotation last week...nobody that had been through in the 90s would recognize the place.

Here's the only one I have of me.  Most of my time in, I was in too secret of a unit to have my picture taken.

All joking aside, I was never in.  Wish I would have.  The sole purpose of this post is to tell you thank you.  I truly admire all of you guys and pray for you every day.  Thank you for all you do and please stay safe.  I know you don't want to be called heroes, but that is what you are.

ETA - These are all awesome pics.  Thank you for posting.

I was HHC 1/35 in Baumholder too, tank mechanic. Were you there for the transition from 2/68 the fuck up to 1/35?

I used to have a ton of pictures I took when I was in the service of my buddies, myself, and places I had served.

Some years after I got out, I was moving from one residence to another, and while packing for the move I came across the pictures and said to myself, "who cares about these old photos?" - and I threw them away.

I still to this day do not know WTF I was thinking.

Nah.

Knowing me I probably pitched those five minutes after I got the prints made.

Oh well.

I might actually still have a few, and I plan to look around tomorrow.

Rockin' a 20?

Is that a phillips-head screw in your arm?

NYS left a bunch of 20s when they RIPd. I used the 20s as 100% tracer mags. easy to tell what I grabbed by the mag size.

My initial mag was always a 20 if we were doing a mounted patrol because it was easier to get in and out of the MRAP  TCs seat  with a 20.

OEF 7 I was there with NYs 27th

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/27th_Infantry_Brigade_Combat_Team_(United_States)

attached to USMC 2/7

When I extended I was initially with the ILNG for OEF VIII

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/33rd_Infantry_Division_(United_States)

When they RIPed out I was then with the GA guys for part of OEF IX:

So I wore different patches in  pictures depending on when the pic was taken.

Thank god for velcro.

The IL guys hate their patch because everyone mistakes them for medics. I think everyone complains about their patches though.

The road to Marjah from MY turret.

Little baby doll that followed us for MILES out of Her village.  She was "maybe" 9-10yrs old and every time I tried to take Her pic' she

pulled that damn Pashmina over Her face.  She wanted candy and water and We'd been ordered by the Marines NOT to give them (The

local kids) any (Because they got stupid and ran into the path of vehicles and there'd been a few deaths).  I fought with the CC through My

VC for about an hour and finally said fuck it and threw Her some bottled water, a couple of MRE's and pretty much all the candy we had

on board.  Eh....most of you guys would've done the same thing....

Edit: 'just realized everyone's posting pic's of themselves ().  Here's one of Me back in '97 or '98 during a "ride along" (High School kids that were thinking of joining)

weekend.  I'm on the right (With the tape on My helmet) and the guy left of Me (With tape on HIS helmet) was My driver on the '113.  We were the "Opfor" and the four

kids on the left were our "Squad".  We had just "assaulted" () a bunker complex at the MOUT site at the High Desert Training Facility in Redmond (OR). (BTW, Pat', My

driver in this photo earned a Bronze star with V-Device last year in A-Stan while commanding a Buffalo during the fighting around Marjah. Really good guy.).
