I agree with you that the indicator holes are not ideal (dont have them on my Benelli or 870, and they arent on my dad's 590), but they're not a deal breaker IMO.

For anyone who can't stand the idea of the indicator holes allowing dirt in, I can seal the holes with a composite material developed for the military and used by NASA. It will prevent either dirt or water from entering through the holes, and will not interfere with the function of the firearm. I will offer this service for only $2000.00, plus shipping and FFL fees.

Or you can use your imagination and do it yourself, but then I don't make any money.

Duck/duct tape, how does it work?

Probably not.

Yeah, I probably won't crawl through mud either...  I have to agree with you that the holes are not something that I've found I needed on any of my other tube mag shotguns.    And closing them with duct tape isn't a satisfactory solution.

At least Kel-Tec is showing that they are noting the suggestions that people are posting on the various forums.

I plan to crawl through jumping cholla, and I don't want any needles getting into my magazines.

If jumping cholla needles shut down your pump shotgun, you shouldnt be there with it. Yes, I know what cholla is and how godawful big the needles are, but still....

Who gives a crap if it's loud for home defense.  I look at it as a built in flash/bang.  That's a feature.

Jeez...

If I had to crawl through jumping cholla with a KSG...

I would mow it all down with a 20 round drum of #8 shot from my Saiga S-12 first, then go in there with the KSG.

An update that I haven't seen posted on arfcom yet.  Kel-tec has confirmed (via facebook, LOL) that the production version of the KSG will chamber 3 inch magnum shells as well as 2 3/4" shells.  Capacity with 3 inch shells will be 6+6+1.  They did this as a result of feedback from SHOT show.

MSRP may look scary, but street price isn't that bad.  I've seen a couple of preorders for $617-$650 or so.  Definitely not bad.

Need doesn't enter into it.

I don't bird-hunt, only rarely bust clays, and I am a die-hard carbine-for-HD guy... but I currently have 24 shotguns (more, if you count combo-guns), and I'll still have to have one of these.

Or maybe three.

24 Shotguns?

That's loony and cool all at the same time.

They seemed to have a helluva time trying to operate that thing in the Nutn videos.  Stuck shell casings, a stupid single-point sling attachment, etc...

I think Nutn should have known better than to rely on that pin as a sling attachment; he being a pilot.  Those are the same pins used to attach crew seats to the airframe in military aircraft.  The D-ring is only there so it can be dummy-corded to prevent loss; certainly not to support any kind of force.

Watching those guys shoot the KSG made me realize how much better an AR15 is over a shotgun. The KSG had numerous instances where the shooter aimed and pulled the trigger with an empty chamber (forgot to change tube selector or they totally ran out of ammo). Also, the reloading is PAINFULLY SLOW. In addition, one of the guys had the KSG totally lockup on him and it took maybe 15 seconds to clear the jam. I can't imagine any scenario where I would rather have a KSG over an AR15.
