Not sure if it's the Scottish humor or Nancy Travis that draws me to this movie.

Thinking it is indeed Nancy Travis.

Just saying,,,,,,

One of my favorites. I love it when the Mom grabs Tony and plants a huge wet one on him.

Yeah, my most quoted line when concerning my Marine buddies. They mostly concur, especially my son.

I actually got to meet Mike Myers, and told him, "So I Married An Ax Murderer' is a great film."

Link Posted: 10/24/2010 11:37:07 AM EDT
The "eccentric Scottish family" part of the movie is hysterical. The "ax murderer" stuff is dumb... it's half a great movie IMHO.

Awesome movie. Look at the size of his head!

She was a thief, you gotta believe,
she stole my heart and my cat.

Betty, Judy, Josie and those hot Pussycats...
they make me horny, Saturday morny...
girls of cartoo-ins will leave me in ruins...
I want to to be Betty's Barney.

Hey Jane...
get me off this crazy thing...

Great date movie...sadly Meyers became in need of a humor transplant and no longer makes good ones like this.

I remember when it was reviewed by Siskel & Ebert.

IIRC they stated that the movie was terrible, except for the
scenes where Meyers Scottish Family were depicted.

If Meyers wanted the movie to be a home run,
then the entire movie should have been about his Scottish Family.

No, it's the Scottish humor ... I know ... because I used to be Scottish until I became an American a year ago!!

Mike Myers spent a lot of time in the UK and totally 'gets' the Scottish humor. I do love that film. And of course Nancy Travis was/is hot as hell which helps.

Nancy Travis wasn't in Doc Hollywood.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Woody Harrelson?

That sums up the movie. The Scottish Family parts are hilarious but the other is just dumb.

Now this is something the other tour guides won't tell you. In this particular cell-block, Machine Gun Kelly had what we call in the prison system, a "bitch". And one night in a jealous rage Kelly took a make-shift knife or "shiv", and cut out the bitch's eyes. And as if this wasn't enough retribution for Kelly, the next day he and four other inmates took turns pissing into the bitch's ocular cavities. (short pause) This way to the cafeteria!

Well, do tell. I was born and raised an American, just so happens that my namesake and Great-Great-grandfather came here from Scotland.

Yes they did, great band too....that double-bassist sound was brilliant, still like to jam to them.

No.. The scenes with the friend who has the sensitive police chief are great too. Alan Arkin did a great job in those scenes.
