I'm not tring to start a war or get flamed, I was just thinking what would I choose, I can't really decide. Right now I'm leaning towards the HK-91,it shoots anything I feed it and groups well, I like where every thing is. I don't like the tight magwell or not having the bolt hold open device. I like the M1A as well, it shoots close to moa with good surplus and the sight are very good. The down side is the shifting zero and or glass bedding, the small trigger guard.I think my favorite might end up being the AR-10, it hasn't come in yet but I'll see. I just wanted your opinon on this, thanks.

M1A.  Are you trying to get a super accurate .308 semi-auto?  If not, you don't have to glass bed the stock or put a scope on it.  The iron sights work great on the M1A.  You can load the M1A using stripper clips (if not scoped).  It has a flash hider which is useful at night.  You can get synthetic stock in black, brown or various camo patterns.  If you buy an M14 bandoleer ($7.00) that will take the sting out of buying M14 magazines.  With the M1A you can get various barrels and / or put on National Match parts to tweak it up.  It has a great reputation for reliability and accuracy.  Make mine the M1A!

FAL if you're on a budget, M1A if not.

I have tried the HK-91, M-14/M1A, AR-10 and the FAL. The FAL is my favorite and my personal choice. Very easy on the shoulder, easy to clean, reliable and accurate.

Try out them all out if you can and pick the one that "fits" you best.

Of course I'd choose the HK91 as my personal favorite.  I'm used to the HK weapons system.  I like the ease of swapping out parts, in particular putting a PSG1 trigger group on it takes seconds.  You can put a collapsible stock on it if you want to abuse your shoulder.  Easy to swap out forearms, bipods, adj. stocks (cheek piece and length), etc...  I also like the irons on the hk91s (I use a 1200m sight on mine).  I've never had a hiccup and I think it's as accurate as I need out of a battle rifle in semi.  Best of all, if you got a registered MG sear, you can drop it in and have a full auto G3!

I don't mind the lack of a bolt hold open.  The negatives are: it's a bitch to clean, parts and mags are expensive, and it gets VERY dirty quickly.

I want to pick up an AR10 (better yet an SR25) one of these days.  That'll be my next .308.

I really don't think you can go wrong with any of the following rifles:  HK91, M1A, AR10 or a FAL.

I like the M1A/M14 better than the FAL or G3/HK91.
I haven't shot an AR10 yet.

What can I say but FAL FAL FAL oh and FAL
I have the cheapest plile of crap FAL its an Indian Ishapore 1A1 that I bought for $120 Canadian some 10 years ago.  It has never failed me....except when I tried to feed it some pile-o-shit.  Cavim Chiliean ammo that I would not feed to my dog.

Still love my ARs anyway

FAL definitely. More ergonomic than the M1A or HK91, but just as reliable and much simpler to field strip.  Mags are cheap, spare parts and accessories are reasonably priced and readily available.

FALs are very reliable, tough weapons, differs though with manufacturer. I have Aussie Lithgow made L1A1 myself. HK series are very accurate reliable weapons, at least we ve found them to be, but their not very great to shoot, and expensive. Cant say much of the M1A1s cause there aren´t much around here, but generally theyr also good, the M14s we ve had are very ergonimic, the weapons are great to shoot.

I like the FAL.  They range from the budget Century jobs to collector-worthy Belgian prebans.  Parts are plentiful, mags are cheap, the design is simple and robust.  DSA has FALs that are probably as accurate as a stock M1A, though they're a bit more expensive, according to these retail prices:

I would have to go with the M1A, hands down.  I have had an Armscorp M14 and a SA M1A Supermatch in the past and both were great shooters.  However, I have been even happier since I traded my Supermatch for an AR-15.

I am still abeliever in the M1A, but everyone has their own personal favorite. I will stand by an M1A as the best in my book.

It depends on which one I have in my hands at the time. I like the M1A a lot and was trained on the M14 in the service, but man that FAL is nice!!! M1A if price isn"t a factor.

FAL then M1A. FAL is reliable, inexpensive and magazines are cheap.

any semi-auto .308 I got would be scoped so it has to have good accuracy.Make it a M1A, its got a flash suppressor and while the DSA fal might have the same accuracy it does'nt have a flash hider being a post ban rifle.Down side is its mags are kinda pricy(cheap compared to pre-ban AR-10 mags)compared to the FAL's mags that you can find for under $10

My favorite 7.62's are:
Target:AR10T or M1A supermatch.I think the AR10 has a slight advantage because of the bedding. If you remove the M1A from the stock wevy much you will loosen the bedding.
Battle:FAL or M1A both as about as reliable as you can get.AR because of the gas system is not quite as reliable at least theoretically.
Fun to shoot:all of them plus the scout rifle.

My AR10 is my favorite rifle hands down. It shoots so well with surplus Hirtenberger ammo I will never pay for match grade ammo again.

Have to admit the mags are expensive though, for the 14 mags I purchased I could have bought another rifle.

I am looking for an SR25K at a reasonable price right now thought. I want a retractable stock and flash hider.
