Their barrel strength rye is another banger. You can order their offerings online from Nelson’s. We unfortunately don’t get Frey Ranch normally in Texas so I just order online.

Yesterday was a VERY fucking angry day for me - should be sad too, but was too pissed off to be sad.  I had a couple premium bottles on a lower shelf.  When sweeping the floor, I found the top of a cap.  NOOO, not the fucking Springbank.  I have been nurturing that bottle for about 20 years.  It was a blending mistake.  When it came out, it was under $40 a bottle.  The scotch community found it, and within 3 months, it was at $150 a bottle and gone forever.  It compared very well to a good 25 year old bottle (I went to a tasting that year of $800 bottles - that misblended Springbank would have held its own).  Scotch has to be labled with the youngest whiskey's age - there was not a hell of a lot of 12 year old Springbank in that bottle, and probably a lot of 20-30 year old was in it.  25 year old Springbank goes for about 3k a bottle now... (and honestly they are not getting raving reviews either).  It was a bottle that I can never replace.

Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof. It’s 128.8 proof and is hot but not as bad as I would have thought. I know Jack gets a bunch of hate, but you would not know this was Jack Daniels if you didn’t see the bottle. This stuff is amazing but will last me a long time. At the proof and $65 it’s a special occasion drink for me.

Had the JD SB/BP last year for the first time. That stuff is DELICIOUS. One of my favorites neat. A bit hot , but well worth it for the taste. And it’s a steal at $60.

The JD 12 of this year is fricken fantastic. Proof that Jack Daniels can - and does - make world-class whisky.

Started with 2-fingers of Old Gran Dad bib and finished with 2-fingers of EH Taylor small batch.
The OGD was superb. The EHT was a bit hot tonight. Oddly. Same proof.

Yk I was thinking about getting this wine cooler for this store, I am thinking it would be cool to have one in the basement. I am making a man cave and considering to really put down some good work into it. What do you guys think?

Last night I finally opened one of the bottles of Eagle Rare I had stashed and tried it for the first time.  It is good, but at about $30-$35 a bottle it is just as good as an approximately $30 bottle of Wild Turkey 101 or Four Roses (or many others).  And those bottles are always available for sale, unlike the Eagle Rare that I have seen 3 times in the last 4 years.

You have this specific single barrel or just asking in general? This particular one is kinda like the typical banana runts, high oak and chocolate that you normally get for these. Little long for the finish but enjoyable over ice for me, not neat though
