Meh, the only ~80 proofers I have at the moment are FR Yellow Label and WT81, and I hands-down prefer the Turkey.

1990 Old Fitzgerald 1849 (Stitzel Weller)

This is probably the best bourbon I've had in years. And I have them all.

I'm not the biggest fan of anything out of the medley distillery in Owensboro. But they always seem pretty proud of it from the price.

lol, no just very lucky in this case.

Wife wanted to buy me a bottle of scotch as a present, and I was trying to get on Bruichladdich's webpage to remember which Octomore's I've had I liked, and it said they were releasing the OBA Concept in an hour... So I logged back in and the whole site was down, hit refresh a few times and managed to get through so I ordered a bottle. (3000 bottles for the world, sold only on their webpage and sold out in an hour)

In hind sight, I should have ordered 2, its quite excellent. Think of the glaze you'd get on candied bacon with a bbq smoke to it instead of the briny peat most islay's have...

Recent liquor store run

Found the six old style bottles of Weller SR at a store I had never been to before.

Bottles all had dust on them and were $17.99 each.

Yeah, I'm on a roll lately. Much to my wife's dismay...

Here's the real bitch of it: state just opened the lottery for 1 of 8 bottles of Old Rip Van Winkle 25 year @$1899.

I am absolutely dying right now, under threat of castration if I pull that trigger.

I did, however, enter the lottery for a bottle of EH Taylor Four Grain 100 proof. That was only $80!

I'll be honest, I was like no way, not gonna do it...

Drinking it now and I have to say I like it as something different. I tend to be a fan of intense flavors (see Lagavulin) and this fits that bill. I'm putting it in a completely different category: something else interesting to drink.

I got 3 of these today. Have 1 here with me at the cigar lounge and 2 at home.

It seems that in PA it is getting harder to get. Most times when the PA web site says a store has it and you go to get it, the website was wrong or they put it aside and are holding it for someone else. So a store had 8 bottles today and I grabbed 3. It's good I found these because I was all out. Now I'm happy again
