I've been buying mine from Detroit Grooming Co. lately. Outstanding shave cream. It smells great, and has a nice cool finish.
Their matte paste pomade is really good stuff too https://detroitgrooming.net +1 for Musgo Real Orange Spice tho. That stuff is real nice |

Speick. My absolute favorite soap. Makes a nice lather, has a unique but nice smell, and comes in a handy stick form so I can just apply it directly to my face and then lather.

There are so many shave soaps I haven't tried yet but of the ones I have I really like D R Harris and Mitchell"s Wool Fat.

I’ve had a handful in the past - currently I have Taylor of Old Bond Street’s Sandlewood as well as Westcoastshaving’s Sequioa and Rum Runner.
I’d put WCS’s soaps well above any that I’ve ever used. Good scents, great lather, and the price is hard to beat. |

My favorite is Martin de Candre, but it is stupid expensive so I have been using a clone of that made in my own kitchen. It's nearly the same and cost pennies.

Of the ones I have tried I'd have to say D R Harris Windsor but there are so many I haven't tried yet.

So far, Chiseled Face, Barrister and Mann, and Declaration Grooming have been the best I've tried.
I plan to get samples from Stirling and Soap Commander next. They review well, and they're a little less expensive. |

I have a travel soap from edwin jagger, I like the container it's in but the soap doesn't lather well. Next time I need to buy some classic shaving soap I'm going to get one of the smaller pucks to put in the edwin container. |

I finally tried the Haslinger shaving soap. It was overall a very nice soap with a super thick lather. The lather was very easy to whip up and super slick too. It was about $8.00 for the puck, but a little cheaper if you get it on sale.

Its cheap, but lathers up amazingly well. I started with a Taylor of old Bond Street Saldalwood. when i ran out i bought Arko shave sticks and I cut the sticks into little thin circles and fill up the old shaving soap bowl. Been doing this for three years now. View Quote Exactly. Get the case for all of twenty bucks. Shave forever. It gets better as it ages. Arko's the shit. Between use and outreach programs I've gone through three cases in about ten years. Mostly outreach programs. ETA- the old Williams bakelite shave stick holders fit an arko stick exactly. |

Well, it was Kell's.
I just now neckbearded most of what was left on Amazon. When that finally runs out, I'm not sure what I'll do. |

I know this post is a few months old but I fell down a rabbit hole this morning. I really like TOBS - Mr Taylor and a couple of the other TOBS scents, recently used some of the Van Der Hagen and it was good as well but not the same level of scent as the TOBS.
Somehow I ran out a few weeks ago so I lathered up with the bar I had in the shower which was Dove sensitive skin. Man I was surprised how well it did and it made a really nice lather. So I left half a bar in my cup and it did even better a few days later after absorbing a little water and softening up a bit. So then I chopped the bar up, zapped in the microwave and added some fragrance oil called Old Barbershop or something and it did well and smelled better, no idea what my wife paid for the Sam's Club package of soap but it has to be less than $1 per bar. So this morning I spent an hour going down the "Making homemade soap" rabbit hole, I remember my grandmother talking about making lye soap back in the day. Might be cool to get some lard and lye and give it a whirl. One thing I noticed on the soap making sites everybody was all "Vegan" and sustainable oils... I'm thinking homemade pig fat shaving cream might be the bomb! |
