Why don't we have a picture thread like we do everywhere else in ARFCom?? This way people can see different setups, you can talk about the likes and dislikes of your gear or what you've changed, etc...
I don't have any pics yet as my gear is still on order (been 10 years since I last dove and I'm getting all new gear). I just ordered a Scubapro Hydros BC and MK25 EVO/A700 Carbon Black Tech regulator, and bought a Galileo Sol as my primary setup. I'll get pics up once everything's in. Just a thought... lets see where this goes........... |

Pretty standard stainless backplate and 30lb wing. I carry a few pounds of lead on the cam bands. I used to have a used Oceanic reg set but my wife got me a really nice new one. I just use a SPG on a snap swivel, and my computer is a watch (GEO 2.0). I had to replace the wrist strap when my dog chewed it off. I used to have IDI frog foot fins from a garage sale, but now I use Jets with springs. We just got some tanks for free, so after I get them hydro'd I need to figure out my weight for an AL100. http://i967.photobucket.com/albums/ae152/jbarrettuscg/684B1CE7-C841-467C-8547-A61084C3C773.jpg http://i967.photobucket.com/albums/ae152/jbarrettuscg/1C917768-2EE5-4CBD-952E-1A3ACD1F10A4.jpg http://i967.photobucket.com/albums/ae152/jbarrettuscg/DC26BDEF-B515-4EA9-A8C4-103FE2EE41AF.jpg View Quote hmmm, your acquisition methods are similar to mine. you prolly already know this, but, Catalina AL100 will be negative when empty, while the Luxfer are positive when empty. More info here. I have both and plan on selling the Luxfer soon. I prefer the buoyancy characteristics of the Catalina. Still, better than an AL80 though. The Catalina will stand taller though...see below. Luxfer AL100 is in the background, C80 to the right. |

All 3 of the tanks we were given are Catalina (2x AL100, 1 AL80). I was reading about a lot of people complaining about the positive buoyancy characteristics of AL100's empty, but the Catalina is negative so that's good and means I don't have to carry extra lead. I'm thinking about putting my old reg set on the AL80 and hanging it below the boat for an extra safety in case someone doesn't have enough gas to complete a safety stop. Or I'll put a 100' hose on it and make it a snuba rig for lobstering.

Yep, they are awesome. Somehow I forget how easily they breathe until I open them all the way up once we actually get in the water and it's like "hell yeah"

Yeah, I'd be bringing a mule to hump that gear to the waters edge or the hotel room!! I just ordered my USIA Techniflex drysuit so hopefully it'll be in the next couple weeks. Been a lllooonnnnnggggg time since I dove in a drysuit so I hope it's like riding a bike. javascript:editorInsertAtCursor( '<img src="/images/smilies/icon_smile_tongue.gif" class="sm">', '' ); |

@SleeperShooter - you just ordered a Techniflex? That's what I have. :)
I have to ask - where'd you order through? |
|
[#21]
@Marie, I ordered through my local dive shop Scuba Professionals of Arizona. They've been around forever out here. Good people...

Just got back from the shop - I picked up my Techniflex today from having a p-valve installed. |

I requested the new SITECH Quikneck seals for them both. We'll see...

Is Scuba Professionals of Arizona where the old Scuba Sciences became/moved to?
I only ask Because I was first certified there (scuba sciences) in '85, and when I went back to see my brother they were gone! |
|
[#26]
@Jake-The-Snake yes that's correct. Scuba Sciences changed names / owners and the new Scuba Pro of AZ moved over to 99th Ave & Olive into their new building. It's much nicer than the old place. Paul & Tina are still there running it of course. When you come back out this way, shoot me an IM and we can meet up for a bite to eat or get some dives in. |

I haven't spent on dive gear anywhere close to what I've spent on gun related things. Least not yet anyways hah

I sold an LCP and all my .380 ammo, 3000 rounds of 9mm, and 4000 rounds of .223. Still have plenty of 9mm left and some rifle ammo.
I bought a 5mm wetsuit I am absolutely loving, some needed bits and pieces, put some towards my Lake Huron trip next month, and the rest onto my credit card. I also sold the 3 pairs of paddle fins I that hurt my knees and put the money towards a pair of splits for diving wet/pool laps. I sold the extra wing I had (left from the original BP/W I had, the rest of it sold a few months ago) for $100 yesterday and just put that in the bank (hard to spend a $100 bill). |

My plans before next season are to get 2 steel tanks. DRIS has a few HP100 for rent so I can try them out. I will also be upgrading to a Shearwater Perdix. I love the display.

The only pic of any of my gear right now. Bought these 2 from a retired Navy Diver. Only paid $20 for both; $90 after hydro/vis.
