Kroger has fresh cherries for 99 cents a pound.
Haven't made anything in years, but thinking of trying to whip up a rough around the edges 1 gallon with cherries just to see what happens.

Look up Cherries in the Snow. I've always wanted to try it but it calls for 10lbs of cherries for 5gal.

I know it's kind of late, but I just found this forum.

When those cherries went on sale, we made this cherry melomel recipe. We backsweetened it when we racked it to the secondary because it was really dry. We tasted it again when we bottled it, and it was pretty tasty but still kind of sharp. It's supposed to mellow for a really long time, which for us is around February.
