I bought a bag of corn masa to make my own tortillas. What else can I do with this stuff?

BTW, I really wasn't that impressed with my home-made tortillas.

Tortillas are so cheap here I don't know why anyone would even try to make them. Fresh made 2 bucks for 20.

Add some to your next batch of chili.  It's amazing.

Tamales. Also, make your own tortilla chips- you'll never want store-bought chips again. I like mine with some chili powder and lime juice.

+1 on the tamale and chili ideas.

I also make corn cakes with the masa.

Just mix with water till you get a pancake consistency.

Season the batter (this is where you can get creative or just put salt) and fry in butter or bacon drippings.

The corn cakes go great with chili or beans or soups.

What's your recipe for this? I'm interested. Tried it once, but didn't care for the result.

Not sure what this is called since I just made it up out of my head
when I did not know what to do with masa.

1 cup masa
2 egg
Milk
Sugar to taste
Pinch of salt
Splash of cooking oil

I mix every thing with a stick blender to get all the lumps out.
Pour in a well greased pie pan and bake till it pulls away from
The sides of the pan and browned on top.

Eat.
I make the batter a little thin and the out sides are browned
and the insides are like pudding.

BTW  the dog did eat my first one. Good luck.

If it's somewhat coarse ground you can make polenta out of it.  Boil it in some water with salt until very thick, then pour it onto a cookie sheet to cool.  Refrigerate and once it's hard, cut it into squares or sticks and fry them up in a pan.

I've wanted to try using it to thicken chili (Texas Style), but I haven't yet. You could also make Tamales.

It works pretty well for chili, I usually throw a little in a pot whenever I make it. Also tamales. Cannot ever go wrong with tamales.
