Tossed the electric because it was nasty, and not very good.
Is there still a good, old school manual type that you clamp on and turn the crank?
Preferably one without a disc and a blade to do the cutting.

My wife only has the use of one hand and we have a terrible time finding can openers she can use.  This one is great. She liked it so much, I bought five more in case they quit making them.

Two excellent choices from OXO brand

Standard can opener

Smooth edge opener

Both dishwasher safe, use it, toss it in, don't worry about the disc

Another fan of the smooth opener.  We've had ours for a while now, no issues.

I picked up a cheap smooth-edge like this one at walmart a few years ago. Works fine.

Pro: You can snap the lid back on the can and store in the fridge.

Con: You can't put the lid back inside the can for draining tuna or whatever.

Just buy a cheap one from walmart and file the cutting edge til it's sharp.

No.  The name was bought and they now make those in China out of flimsy steel. The one I posted above is made in America on the original Swing-A-Way tooling.

I use a Swing-a-way wall mount, just like the one my Grandmother used.  It blazes through any can.  I bought mine at Ace Hardware.

I am curious about all the safety edge openers everyone uses.  I bought one that was advertised as "safety can" back in the day, and over half the cans were not cut sufficiently, or they seemed to be glued into place and needed substantial prying to get the lid off.  Has this changed with the stuff on the market now?

SWINGAWAY brand

small town hardware stores should have them...they're the best modern opener I've found...

wife "accidently" thru away my 40 yr old one that would still open the trunk of your car if needed...

Swing-A-Way (made in USA) is the only can opener that's actually lasted about 12+ years of firehouse use.  Guessing the "Made in USA" posted above should be good too; do not get the chinese made SwingAWay; from experience.  Tried one thinking they were the same and they weren't.  Did some digging and found out Swing A Way was bought out.

Shit now I gotta go get my calipers and measure one of my P51s.....

And here all these years I thought the 38 and 51 alluded to the number of cycles to open a can.
