I still can't bring myself to remove his contact info from my phone.  Talk about time passing in the blink of an eye.

Another year has passed.

This year, I am just going to post some memories from the farm.

RIP, my friend.  You are missed.

Breaking her in for the first time:

He was very proud of this fire pit.

And the waterline, even though it never came to be

Snake fishing.  A pastime.

Damned fine people.

Another sunset is upon us.

He had good reason to be proud of that pit.  He dug that pit by hand in very hard and rocky soil.  A bunch of folks gathered there for a 4 day working weekend to finish of the interior of the cabin to include building a bar, repair the windows/door, dig a 1000 foot long trench to bring running water to the cabin, and a number of other projects we had been talking about for years.  A lot of people donated hard work and money to make it happen.  If you were one of them, THANKS!!

FALARAK and I were loading up in my truck to pick up a Ditch Witch in Altus, OK.  Wayne asked me where we should put the pit.  I told him it was his pit, but it would be nice if the ground around it could be flat enough to allow people to sit all around the pit without falling over backwards in their chairs. (The original "pit" was just a ring of rocks/bricks laying on the ground near the edge of the hill).  About 3 hours later we returned from Altus.  Wayne was standing in a hole that was more than waist deep and about 8 feet in diameter!!  HOLY SHITBALLS!!  What a fire pit!!  His poor hands were blistered all to hell and back, but the smile on his face was brighter than the Sun.  We lined the pit with about two tons of  limestone "borrowed" from an "offsite location".  We waited until sunset, then Wayne lit the first fire.  It was beautiful.

I started sniffin around here back in 02 or so I guess and his was always the voice of calm, respect and deescalation even in disagreement.

In this place of many opinions, his was always valued by the vast majority even back in the "wild wild west" days.

There are still members doing good works daily as is being demonstrated in the wessono thread but sadly, those types of posters seem to the exception more and more.

Hopefully this is just an illusion on my part though as I'm quite sure the Hun would be balls deep in there doing anything he could to help and he would hope that the rest of us would all do our part as well.

The place has not been the same without him.

Never met him face to face but we went toe to toe on arfcom.

He, like I, abhorred the practice of claiming to be a victim when issues were being argued.  He had no tolerance for those who called others haters, or bigots or the like for simply disagreeing with them.  And rightly so.

He advocated free, open, rigorous discussion.

I miss him.

Never made it to the farm back then, too busy with and poor from college, but always looked forward to the pictures and stories from gatherings there ( I'm sure the best stories never made it back to the forum!) I always looked forward to his insightful, witty, and occasionally brutally direct posts to the forums, and how he always signed each post with a humorously relevant adjective in his name.

He seemed an incredibly genuine person, the kind that brings out the best in everyone around him, and the forum is a little worse off with his absence.
