Well I have been Told that the pickups are passive; (I thought they were active), but it has a 9volt battery in it. Is the battery for the EQ then? I always thought the battery powered active pickups.

Am I missing something?

My wife plays an Ibanez 4 string that is similar.  The pickups are passive but it has an onboard preamp that can effect the clarity/overdrive when running into an amp.

So do you need to unplug it every time you finish playing it?
