I have been playing music for the last 40 years..I am 55 now






























































 

My wife and I organize the youth praise band at our church.  The band typically doesn't have enough instrumentalists so we fill in the gaps.  No pics or videos because it's other peoples children.

I play in a big band that plays hymns in a 40's big band style. I'll post up some videos after while.

I agree, very nice.  Is this a community group or do you this much talent in one church?

Its a community group made up of current and retired band directors as well as a few college students.

I play live in a band all the time, especially at school. I like it a lot. 95% of the stuff we do is modern worship music, with the occasional hymn or bluegrass song thrown in there for fun.

I've played in lots of different bands, but was with a bluegrass band out of my church for ~14 years. Started off
playing bass, went on a hiatus while I was in MS for a few
years, then came back on Dobro/National after they got a real bass player; also traded bass vocals off with the banjo player when we
felt like it. Cut one mediocre and one fair album with 'em, mostly
covers/traditionals with an original or two thrown in. We played lots of small country churches and local festivals between TX and MS, but the most fun/most rewarding times for me were the once a month Sunday morning gig playing at the local (physical) rehab hospital; lots of little old ladies and gentlemen, some without families and in pain, got to come visit and sing along with us. Nothing helps you feel better than helping someone else feel better!



Started playing guitar with my church's worship band about 10 years ago; switched to bass about two years ago, to let some of the younger guys play guitar. Feel like the grizzled old man at times, but I get to show them the "lazy" way to voice chords and comp rhythm I've learned over the years, and they get to show me the new flashy licks they've been working on in their rooms after school. ;)

I'm going to bump this. I have a gig this weekend with Power and Glory.

Not a band member myself but my wife runs the multimedia screen at our church so we work very closely with the bands.  Our church plays most of the newer contemporary music you would hear on K-LOVE and the such.  As well as some old hymns.  The music program is what stuck out as the reason we chose this church upon moving to this area.  I really enjoy the music service every morning.  I appreciate you posting your videos.  We play some of the same songs.  Good stuff!

As it stands right now I play in five different bands, but this one is by far my favorite to play in.
You can't beat the fellowship found in a great band, especially in a band full of like minded believers.

I know how you feel. We haven't played out for three weeks now and everyone is too busy to get together to practice any..I miss all my band mates we do good ministry together. Our next place we play is not until July 26th. We had a big gig lined up for the 28th of this month but had to cancel because of a schedule conflict ....
