Stumbled across this video.   Not sure if it's been posted before.    Looks like a Marine H-53E but cannot be sure.

That's a career ending mistake, unless there was some kind of mechanical malfunction.

Left his anti-collision lights on. Lucky to walk away from that one.

Isn't that an MH-53J Pave Low?  The CH-53E has 3 engines and a 7-blade main rotor.

Yeah looks like it doesn't have the third engine.  No refueling probe though so still unsure.   Well duh there is a refueling boom.

Yeah I know.   Missed the actual impact/landing/contact.

I didn't know you could do that in a 53.  I would call an aircraft that lets the tail rotor touch the ground before any other part of the aircraft a flawed design.

Combine excessive nose high attitude while attempting to decelerate with not enough power to maintain altitude and you end up falling through tail first. Looks like a bad terrain flight decel to me.

I'm impressed he put it down in less than a fireball after the strike.

Idiot pilot attempted a 'quick stop' at below minimum altitude and had controlled crash into ground.

This is how you are supposed to do it.

you'd think a pave low driver would be better than that.

I'd imagine he got in a little hot while trying to show off for the bystanders with the cameras.  Even pilots aren't perfect ;)

Yup on being a PAVELOW. I think it was 1625, if I remember correctly.
