Hmm, lot of federal charges floating around because they are "registered aircraft".   Interesting to see how it plays out.

Probably a good decision IMO, but I'm not to up on drones.

The regulation was beyond retarded and did nothing to encourage flight safety.  Even most of the guys that were "safe rule following" r/c pilots didn't bother to register.

I have no doubt the FAA will be pushing Congress to work this into the law somewhere.

Idiots.

Good. And I'm sure they will destroy all the records of the names and addresses...right?

Good news, but I doubt it's over.

The whole registration thing was ridiculous. Those flying recklessly are not going to register in the first place, and registration does not make a "drone" suddenly safe.

I was my understanding the pilot was the one that was registered, not the "drone".

Sorta both.  Pilot had to put their pilot registration number on their "drones", as I recall.

I've got a partially built MZN50+1 that I thought about finishing as a lightweight built, to see if I could get it under the 8 ounce limit for unregistered use, but just couldn't get motivated to get back into the hobby with the FAA screwing things up.

You guys are killing me. Cmon.
Every group has bad apples but if you think the UAS rule was created by a bunch of bored feds who wanted to jack with a segment of the hobby world, you're sadly mistaken.

Congress mandated the FAA act on the drone/UAS "threat".

The  107 rule was drafted with industry and was open to public review/comment.

@Ray E @Greg Keith So cut your loss and get over it. I bet if ISIS used a drone for an attack you would change your idea about registration. We live in an age of accountability. I would hate to think that your "dog" was maimed by a runaway drone that you could not identify.

Because ISIS registers their "drones".

Are you implying that the FAA is not here to help us?

It's a fairly deserved reputation, though I do see some positive changes on the horizon.

Agreed. The FAA pretty had only one tool to attempt to answer a Congressional mandate.
