Yep, they bombed a ship, and my dad actually has all the before and after photos of that particular run. I cant remember what kind of ship it was but I reached out to him for the details. This was also my grandfathers 4th plane. He lost one while in the air when Mt Vesuvius erupted, lost one to flak, and lost another one when their base was bombed. I'll have to collect all the things my dad has, and start a thread sometime in the future. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I didnt take this photo but this is my grandpas B-25 Mitchell that he flew in WWII, and it currently reside at the Mid Atlantic Air Museum. He was the airplane Commander, and he drew the pinup that is on the nose of the plane which is supposed to be my grandma. http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u620/altaylor1024/b25briefingtime_zpspripkveb.jpg Very cool! Looks like it got in a lot of action given all the markings on the nose, and I'm I seeing it right, engaged a ship? Russ Strine tried to sell the current Briefing Time as the original airframe. It later was proved that it was not. Mid Atlantic no longer makes that claim. |

I love that FW-149. I always thought that would make a cool beginners warbird with the ability to do double duty as a family plane. |

I live and work near there, see those big bastards all the time. The tower in the background looks like the one at CVG anyway. You are correct, that one is CVG. Cool. Funny thing happened to my wife last year. A friend of hers from rural Indiana where we used to live came to visit us in the big city. So my wife took her to go shopping and on the way back while they were on I-275 just before you get to the flight path one of those big ass birds came in just over the trees as her van came around the bend in the road. Her country friend all of a sudden saw that plane and freaked out inside of my wife's van. She started screaming that the plane was going to crash into them and she started trying to climb over the front seat in a valiant but futile attempt to get away from the impending doom she imagined. My wife calmly turned to her and said, "oh by the way we live near an airport". Her friend was not amused, but the rest of us were! |
