WOW! Seeing stuff like that is both an inspiration and an intimidation. I loved putting together models as a kid, but I never really got into painting or detail work. I would love to get into it now, but I'm not sure where to start. View Quote Don't be discouraged...that's for sure. We all have to start somewhere. Your best bet is to visit your local hobby store and get some help. You may even have a local club which can be great.. I'd also check out the magazine Fine Scale Modeler. They have lots of articles for beginners with lots of how-to's and such. A little FYI, it can be addicting. So consider yourself warned. I've been building models on and off for probably 20 years and still have so much to learn. I did bunch when I was a kid (not sure if those count), made a whole bunch more when I was college (those were better), but then took a several year break to really get into RC flying. I've been back at scale models now for about three years (these are much better). My output though is pretty slow. I guess I average 3-4 year. I have too many hobbies and not enough time. Good luck. |

I gotta say this is the slowest I've seen this thread in the last few years. I know it's just the beginning of the show season, but still....
I've got nothing to add right now, but in less than a month I should have some good stuff from my trip to DC |

I need to add one last detail...and that's worn paint with a silver pencil. This is fun, I'll let some of you speculate what's going on here. For those of you on FB, may I suggest you check out the Fighter Factory page for a very cool video. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/medium/10994043_806144836138435_2084727019629283405_n.jpg View Quote Yeah, they've been testing it quite a bit this week. They finally got the a/f right to get it to run consistently. It was fun watching the video of the paint burning off when it lit off for the first time. They've said they're going to run it for the crowd next month at the air show. I'll try to get a video. |

I love the old Russian philosophy of "if I can't get the airflow over the wing right, I'll just add some fences. That'll fix it!"

A LET 410. I've never heard one run, but since it's powered by a PT-6 knockoff, it's probably not as loud as a rice rocket. |
