Good stuff, thanks for your service! Watching cat launches has to be a thrill! View Quote That being said, it was a helluva experience for a fifteen year old. Being on the flight deck, just as an observer, was dangerous as hell and thrilling. I have unlimited respect for the enlisted guys that work on the deck all day and all night. |

I was just a cadet in high school, I never served. I don't talk about it much because I don't like giving people the wrong idea. That being said, it was a helluva experience for a fifteen year old. Ah, thanks for the clarity. Still pretty cool none the less, and not something a lot of kids would get to see first hand! View Quote We still worked with the squadron, though. So we'd muster in the morning with G4, go to chow, muster with the squadron and work with them on various things, or tour different parts of the ship, and then at the end of the day go back to berthing with G4. Any emergency drills and we had to muster again with G4 since they were "responsible" for us. |

Back in the days, 20 or so years ago, wasn't VFA-203 a Navy Reserve squadron? The reason I ask, is my younger brother flew Hornets in that squadron before they were disbanded. They were at one time at Cecil Field, Jacksonville, FL, then moved to Atlanta before being disbanded it seems. I think they were called "The Blue Dolphins".

Great Pics! I was in the Blue Dolphins and had just left BF the JFK "cruise". My last traps were on the USS John C. Stennis the summer before. I think "Kimo" (Lee Moak), "O.D". John ODonnell, and "Needles" Tim Cannol were still in the Rattlers then. Remember any of the pilots?

Partly because my mom is still acquainted with him. Needles sounds familiar. I also had a note that a pilot, "LT Fish" took some pictures on deck for me one day. Don't know of that was his name, or callsign. Edit: also remember and NFO we called Fridge. |

Squid1jz, this is my brother I mentioned in an earlier posting.

I never got a straight answer on that. They flew at least one #7 all weekend because #5 was down, but on Friday they went up with two sevens.

I've never really messed with monochrome, or sepia before. I was going to process this picture for a contest anyway, but a photographer acquaintance out west had mentioned a specific ColorEFX recipe in Nik, "Black Gold". I figured I'd try it for shits and grins after I did my basic edit. I was pleasantly surprised.
