Well, I admittedly had neglected my small humidor for far too long. When I went in today to check the humidity and cigar condition, I found my gel beads had gone bad. I didn't realize they could. I'm not sure of the composition or what actually happened but this is what they look like now. Question is, should I be concerned with any type of contamination to my cigars? Thanks all.

I would watch the cigars for mold, but I think they'll be OK. I've had good luck using 65% beads from Heartfelt Industries. They're not gel. I've been using the same ones for over 5 years with good results.

I've encountered the same problem with gel, and generally had to separate and remove the offending item.
+1 on the Heartfelt beads, never caused me any problems. I usually use the tubular version.
