I've been smoking cigars for about 2 years now.  I prefer a good double or triple torch lighter, but I am apparently cursed or just an idiot when it comes to them.  So, I've been relegated to using a soft flame and I would really like to get a torch that works longer than one week.  Below are my three torch lighters and their "problems".

1. JetlLine, my newest and best hope.  Failed after one week.

2. Xikar, with its mighty lifetime warranty (so this is actually the second one) Failed almost on the first day.

3.  Bugatti, this fine Italian one must work, right?  Wrong, worked less than 2 weeks.

What I've done to each of them:  Full purge while holding upside down, air blast to the jet area, complete fill with high quality XiKar butane.

Do any of you veterans have any suggestions?  I had such high hopes for the JetLine!

$3.95 Walmart checkout line torch lighter. (Looks like a blue scuba tank)
Been going strong for about a year now.
It's only single flame though.

I've got a few "free" ($37.94 value) lighters from C.I. that only work when they feel like it.

I have a ST Dupont maxijet it has been good for the last 6 months. What fluid are you using may want to try some of the higher end triple refined butane.

Tempted to just get a torch head for camping propane bottles and call it a day.

Idiot?  Nah.  I've bought $600+ worth of colibris and other "high end" torches for my old man over the years.  I'm an idiot.  They all suck.  Doesn't matter what butane you use, how you hold it.  They all failed within a month of use.

Now he/we use cheapo torches or a bic.

In the interest of full disclosure, i have not purchased an St dupont so I can't say much about them.

Bleed it, then bleed it again. Refill and try turning it up. They can be a PITA.

Pretty much an awesome lighter, to big to travel with or use as a car lighter though.

Save your money and buy the cheaper lighters. I spent over $50 on a lighter and am afraid of loosing it. Bought a couple cheap units and they work.

I have had the same Z-Plus zippo torch insert for well over a year - no issues.  I think it was 12 bucks.

I have one of those that's lasted me almost two years now. I did have another one that died after 6 months though, only using xikar fuel.

This may curse me....but all of my lighters rock.
Even the cheapo free CI lighters.

I have a Bughatti that never fails.
A Dupont ST that fires every time I reach for it.
A Pipeline that is still going strong.

Maybe it's just me but I love mine.

Zippo insert preferably a clear one so you can see how much air is in it.

Every time you go to fill it blow the pocket lent out of it, if not your forcing the lint in the holding tank when you fill it making the lighter fail.
I learned this the hard way with a clear refillable lighter after a few weeks it stopped working when i was filling it i saw trash in the holding tank.

This is the one i use now it protects the fill valve better and easy to see when its full with no air.
http://www.cigarsinternational.com/lighters/66633/bugatti-b-2002-torch-lighter/

I keep a can of compressed air next to my butane now so every fill i clean up the lighter.

Have any suggestions for a reliable, easy-to-refill lighter that also has a big capacity that can still fit in a pocket?  Or
am I asking too much?

Thats the one. The button "cover" has come off and is lost but it still works. Capacity is surprisingly large.
