Has anyone tried the Rust-Oleum Camoflague paints?  I sprayed an aluminum pipe with the khaki and earth brown and it looks very promising and wear resistent!

The Rustolem seems lilke th eway I'm going to go. What would you recomend for preping? Clorinated or non-clorinated brake cleaner? Or is there something else out there that is better?

Rubbing alcohol works fine and is cheap.

hehe....or your go to gun too.

I think anyone that has painted before will tell anyone on the fence about this....PRACTICE first!

I'm working on a new SBR build now that I'm in IN.  I'm gonna duracoat it Magpul FDE.  But while I was on the Duracoat website I looked up how much it would cost to do an MC job...it was well into the $150 range for all the different paints.    I'd rather get my suppressor before making the gun look too spiffy.

Hey Fivepointoh,

Where did you move to in Indiana?

North Western area.  About 30 minutes from Chicago.

I work in Chicago so I needed somewhere semi close.

You guys might want to check out the Refinishing Forum.  There are numerous projects from Krylon / Rustoleum to DuraCoat, KG GunKote, Alumahide, etc....  This includes prep, degreasing etc to patterns and applications of finishes etc.....

Yeah, or "Will it Blend."  Kind of a different "take" on the blending concept, though.

Nice finish.  Likin how it all sorta blends together.  It's got the ACU'ish colors going on which I bet work pretty well out in the brush.

looks awesome. I am really hesitant about doing this myself.  Since right now I only own one Black rifle I dont think I'll take advantage of it with the only one I own. But I have plans to build a .308 And I think this would be perfect.

good post!

KUDOS!!! Your work looks AWESOME! I just found this thread and even though I've painted a few in my day, I've never thought of using folders to make stencils like that. Now I have a renewed inspiration to become "artistic" again. No longer will I "free hand" my paint cans! THANKS!!! See below for one of my "free handed" projects. (Nowhere near as clean as yours).

OOPS! That was one of my OTHER projects! Just thought that I'd throw that one out there for ya. I own the copyright.

DO NOT multicam your rifle.

It will become to fuggin' cool and you'll have to segregate it from your other guns. They will become jealous and leave you because you went "exotic".

BE WARNED.

I'm about to order these..

-Brown #8142

-Khaki #8141

-Medium Brown (Coyote) #8147

-Sand Dune #8148

-Satin Hunter Green #2424

Is there a reason to use the Satin Hunter green instead of the OD Camo color?

I see the Satin Green matches really well with the green color on the MC pattern..

do you have a sourse for this because it's no longer made ( glad I got a couple of cans when I did )

at least thats what I was told when I went to order more from the Ace store that I got it from. they even gave me some 800# to krylon HQ to call and ask/bitch about it.

if there's any out there, I'd like to know cause it really goes great with other Multicam gear that nead 'painted'.
