Posted a while back asking what to make for it. Ended up making a big shelf. Bottom is made out of pine.

Same guy I got it from has some funky cedar slabs. Kinda want to make a cedar bench but they're not very rectangular?. Don't now what I could make with the ones he has.

Took me a while! Thought there used to be a way of taking pictures and submitting them. Had to host through tinypic

I've always loved furniture based on a beautiful slab of lumber, not sure why. Looks like it turned out pretty well. I know walnut is expensive - is that why you chose pine for the lower sections?

Yeah. I wasn't sure how the colors would match but I think it turned out well. Actually got the piece of walnut for 50. I have about 100 in it. I live in a smallish town and they only sell cedar and pine boards. For any selection I have to drive at least an hour and a half.

Only $50 for that slab? You got a great deal IMO.

I think the gloss finish takes away from the natural beauty of the slab. Is it poly?  If it is, I would top coat with a matte poly.  It's just personal taste though. Beautiful slab and nice work.  That slab would sell for 300 here

I like the way the slab turned out, looks great.

I used to just do matte poly, but the older I get the less I want to strain my eyes looking for figure, so the gloss poly works for me.

not partial to the stained pine, but understand the design.

Nice job!
