Some trim on the front of my house has rotted.  I think the plan of attach should be to pull of all the rotted pieces and replace them and repaint.  (I will probably replace the OSB with plywood)  It looks like it wasn't caulked well.
Is there anything else I should do?

look up.  where is the water coming from?
look down.  are there insects (termites or carpenter ants) at work?

I am pretty sure the problem is poor caulking above.  I don't see any insect damage.  It looks like the construction is just a piece of chip board / OSB nailed to the studs and painted in the one area and a thin piece of wood trim nailed and painted next to it.

Use pvc, and never worry about rot again.

Caulking is never used to protect like that.
