I believe what they are saying is that right up front, before you buy anything, you need to allocate 1/2 the budget for speakers. This is especially important in these days of 7.1 sound. Eight speakers are needed, at least! My 7.1 system has 10 Orb satellites and a subwoofer.
In your case, as in most other instances, speakers are an after-thought. Too much money has already been spent on things that do not matter as much as the speakers matter.
If I misinterpreted the earlier posts, guys, feel free to correct me.
My advice - buy the Orbs, at least the Orbs, with a subwoofer. Orb's subs are decent and ordering one simplifies your problem. Do not go cheap on speakers.
P.S. - I think you meant to use 'benchmark' not 'benchrest'.
