to honor her canonization--that of Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, who we all know, of course, as Mother Teresa of Calcutta!

Excellent reminder!  Deo gratias.

We have a few of these nuns/sisters who come to our parish on occassion.  It's always lovely to see them, and the young women always gravitate to them.  It's amazing to see actually.

Soon we will be able to say:
Sancte Teresa de Calcutta, ora pro nobis.

shoulda gave attribution, but in my excitement, just plain forgot!

two people that I have known and loved in my short life here on earth, now are recognized as SAINTS?

WOW!

...let us remember, since the tenth century, it is not Holy Mother Church who "makes" a saint--God does that.

Canonization is the act by which the Orthodox, Oriental Orthodoxy, Roman Catholic, or Anglican Church declares that a person who has died was a saint, upon which declaration the person is included in the canon, or list, of recognized saints. Originally, people were recognized as saints without any formal process.
