Finally got to go out and drive it.  Took a road trip a couple of weeks back to VA for my niece's high school graduation and decide to go to the Dragon on the way home.  It was a great day weather wise, but there were a lot of Harleys on the road, which tended to slow things down a good bit.  Still had a great time and definitely would like to do it again.  One thing to check of my list.

I used to love that place back before so many people knew about it.

From what I hear it's normally to many people on it and police watching now days to be much fun.

I'd like to "run it" if I knew the right time when there wouldn't be much traffic and good weather.

If you're gonna go there, ride "the tail of the dragon" really early in the morning. If ya do that, you might have a good time. If you wait even a little bit though, it'll be packed to the point of feeling like a parade, and cops will be everywhere. There are plenty of other good roads in the area, including the Cherohala Parkway, which runs between Robbinsville, NC and Tellico Plains, TN.

Sucks that there are so many OldWings and stuff on that road.

Fortunately I have some awesome roads in my area that if you go on a weekday you might be lucky to see another car in an hour or more of driving.

The above picture, the portion of the curve in the bottom left is what is seen just behind my 95 in the below picture...   flew my drone up to take picture and the wide angle compressed the elevations of the road.

I'll be riding The Dragon in two days. Staying in Gatlingburg.

I'm stoked.

Definitely a fun road.  Go early or late in the day in the middle of the week for almost zero traffic.
I've been through on several occasions where I only saw a few other vehicles.

Usual king-of-the-road-can't-figure-out-how-pullouts-work Harley behavior...

No shit!  The CA mountain roads are the shit!!  I went out to Yosemite a few years back.  Unfortunately all I had was a rental Escort POS.  But those twisty roads were a blast!  But just like Tail of the Dragon, the wife turns green and I have to pull over for her to  I keep telling her I want to take the '15 GT up there but she refuses once she realizes where I'm talking about and why.

I rode my bike down in 2008, it was great. I'd like to go back after I get another bike in a few years.
