Had a chance to put my ZL1 on a dyno at Alternative Motorsports in OKC yesterday. If any of you watch "Street Outlaws" Chuck owns this shop. Every other month or so he opens the shop up for a dyno day. $40 for three pulls. The car is a 2013 with about 36k. The only mods are CAI, catless Kooks LT 1 7/8" headers and a tune.

In the convertible the ECM rev limits the engine at 6200 rpm. You can hear me hit the limiter in pull 3. It was still pulling there so the next tune update will raise that some. At 6200 rpm the best #s were 478 rwhp and 486 tq. The next round of mods are ready. Plugs, injectors (FIC 850s that flow tested at 104 lbs at 58 psi), ADM FPCM, ATI balancer and 9.17" (18%) lower pulley.

Sounds awesome. What's the point of the multiple pulls, do they make adjustments in between to improve the performance?

Some are data logging during their pulls and make adjustments between pulls. Some drivers just modify their max rpm. Me, I just had 3x the fun and learned I had an rpm nanny in my ECM!

so what WERE the numbers?
wild guess is 550 hp.

been down the strip?

this is my buddy Josh's Nissan GT-R (twin turbo v-6) at TVRP

drove it there with the a/c, rocked out down the track, picked up the wife and drove home.
8.35@166 is serious dragster country (Super Comp is 8.90 heads up).

GT-R is a bad ass car! The Camaro is 2x the weight as it sets.

I put the #s in the video descriptions. My best was 478/486. Car is 580 crank hp stock. I could have hit 490 or better if I had been able to go past 6200 rpm. This was just a baseline pull for me. Now we get serious on the mods and tune.

Always good to get baseline numbers before mods.

Had my V on the dyno recently to get a baseline number before mods start going on. 490/478 with cai and muffler delete. Love the torque curve on these engines.

What I like the best is one guy owns his car, and isn't bragging.

One guy drove someone else's car, and has the dick meter pegged

Must suck to be a groupie

Amazing torque curve! Pretty good to have considering how heavy these sleds are that they're pushing.

Nah. He just thinks I'm sandbagging him. It's cool. I had hoped to hit at least 500. That auto trans leaches a lot of power but what really hurt was the rev limiter. I can guarantee 550 or better after the mods!

No worries. I get the same way though. If I quote this guy I had better quote the other that said something similar.

I just got a 2017 ZL1 with the A10.  I think an intake, pulley and tune will be just fine for my car.

That is the exact same thing I said when I first got mine. Now, hx kit, upper pulley, lower pulley, cam, ported blower, return fuel system, ported throttle body, and lifters later....

BorgWarner S475 pair of fuel pumps and some 80 lb DEKA's should get you in the 800 HP range, on gasoline.
