of my Dodge Ram 1500. I want to run a hidden lockout button, which will be located in a place only I know.
So how heavy a wire and button/switch will I need?

Inrush current to   starter solenoid pull-in coil is around 50 amps, instantaneous. Hold-in coil is less, probably in the 10 to 15 amps range.
 A much better   circuit to SWITCH is the neutral safety switch, interrupting the low current to actuate the starter RELAY,   around 1/4 amp.

12 volt /15 amp or less switch for these
Auto = neutral safety switch
Clutch = lock out switch
These are pretty convenient and easy to wire a single pole switch inline.

Simple.

Put a switch inline with the fuel pump relay. No worries about current then.
