If so, post pics or share stories of the ones you have or the ones that got away.

I've posted it before but here is my 72 Cutlass "S". I've owned it twice and don't plan on letting it leave again. It's just a cruiser until the kids get a little older and I can afford to freshen it up.

Specs: warmed over 350 with a pretty beffy TH350. Buckets and console shifted. Original owner installed the 442 grill and spoiler.

I owned a real clean 78 Cutlass with a 5.7 diesel. Had a GM Goodwrench DX block.

Love the s body, much more attractive than the supreme.  72 is also my favorite year for those, the 70 doesn't look quite right with the grille not coming up as tall.

Details on engine?  The wider V on those definitely fills out the engine bay better than a SBC.

You need a W-30 hood a-sap!  Looks good man.

Would a '78 Starfire count??? Didn't think so...

I don't know much. I bought it from the original owners son back in 04. It has a bit of a cam in it and they took off the "7a" heads and put on "7" heads. It still has a cast intake and points distributor. It has headers going through an h pipe to flow masters and out the back. It's starting to get a little tired. I've had a massive debate on changing the engine to a 455 or an LSX.

They went overboard on the transmission. It shifts good and firm. Big external cooler up front for it as well. I know it's not rare or anything but it has no problem barking the tires in 2nd if I'm manually shifting it.

I sold the car later in 04 to help buy a Superbee. The same guy owned the Cutlass for 10 years and we kept in touch. He called me in June of 14 and said he was in foreclosure and needed cash to save his house. He wanted to give me first rights and I bought it back. He never changed a thing.

I agree! They're just so damned expensive for a good one. I think that hood was the best looking induction hood to come out of the muscle car era.

I had a 1965 442, it was yellow with a 400 4BBL and a two speed powerglide automatic all stock from the factory.  We called it the banana boat.  Would burn the tires off it at launch, hold first to 65 MPH, hit second and scratch'em again....was a really fun car, one that I wish I still had.  Sold it when I went into the army

1966 dynamic 88 olds. 425 super rocket and factory customatic ac. Great grandpa bought it brand new in 1966. Only had 60,000 original miles on it when I got it. Still had my great g mas wood block screwed to the gas pedal. Absolutely no body damage except for surface rust on the roof. Ghetto kids smashed out back glass when another relative left it parked in the ghetto. Planning on getting it running by this summer and painted by fall. This car was given to me when I was 15 so it's technically my first.

Yes indeed, I had a '72 Cutlass Supreme with 350 Rocket engine, bench seats, Viking blue with white Top, black interior. It was my first car and how I would love to get one again. I also had a '67 Cutlass but someone replaced the 330 with a 350 engine. That one I shouldn't have bought, body was totally rusted out from the rear seats back and way too much work and money to restore. The Cutlass in my opinion was the most beautiful of all the muscle cars produced, some day I will have another.

The 425 is something cool, steel cranks in those.

Indeed they are. I looked at a 66 delta 88 convertible for the wife that had the high compression 425 in it. It was an hour away and I himhawed to much and it sold. Now I want a 72 cutlass convertible so we have matching cars.

I also know of 2 70 442s for sale. Not W-30s. Both green on green and one has the Hurst Dual Gate factory shifter in it. They are rough though.

Me and Dad in 1983, spent most of my childhood ridding in 442 w-30s, dad owned 4 that I remember, this was the last one a 1972, he also had a 69 and two 70s.

Once had a '78 Cutlass with the all powerful 260. With 110hp, it was a real tire scorcher.

Damn! Those are super rare. 1972 had 370 W-30 automatics and 289 W-30 4 speeds. I like the color combo as well.

Owned  1981 Cutlass Supreme with a gigantic 260 V8. Gutless POS but a great ride. Eventually yanked it out and replaced it with a 350, gave the 260 away... May have fucked up here as the 260 seems to be a hot engine?

Drove past a 1970? olds 442, yellow with black stripes on the hood, for a full year going to auto mechanics class at MATC. Guy was asking $1995 around 1985, didn't have the cash to swing it at the time.

Dad bought that one in 1980 I think it was $500. was also multi color with a gold door. He had a good friend who owned a body-shop. That pic is on Daytona beach I think, I guy walked up and told dad he had a new Trans-am and would trade him, if we were closer to home dad would have but told the guy he was just to far to drive a car he did not know anything about.

The fastest one was a 1970 442 that was bone stock, no power brakes/steering, but someone did order it with the W code 455 motor, fastest car dad said he ever owned.

370 horsepower and 500 lbs/ft of torque They were earth movers. Olds had a good thing going with the "W Machines".

Same car but not his.

My first car was an 87 Cutlass Supreme.

Fucking awesome car. It had a great amount of power, and it could take a licking.

Lol, picked up a wrecked 71 Cutlass for $75 years ago. 350/4bbl. Identical to OPs pic.
Pulled motor and trans ( and motor mts) and stuck in a 68 Chevelle to replace 307/PG combo.
Headers, mild cam, fresh valve springs. NO woke it up.
Stayed woke. For a while...

Ran old set of Mcreary dirt track tires, trying to get it to hook

No pics of ours, but when I was a kid (in 1969) my mom bought a 68 W-34 Olds Toronado (400 HP 455ci Rocket V8). It was a little different learning how to drive in and pushing a 5000 lb FWD car to the limit but the damn thing was pretty quick, handled well, and was rock solid at 100 MPH+.  Every now and then I get an itch to buy one, but they are pretty rare and finding any first gen Toronado in good shape is tough.

Not ours, but pretty much identical

I love Toronados. I like the 67s styling the best. I also like what Jay Leno did with the one he has.

I had a 74 Cutlass Supreme with a 455 for about 20 years. Money pit trying to make a 4000lb car go quick.

Only have photographs of it, nothing digital.

I had a Toronado.  It was a ghetto machine!  Front wheel drive.  Strong motor.  Five cigarette lighters.  Plush seating for five.  30k on the odometer.

It was a very good car until a drunk driver hit me head on.  Thankfully, the hood was about 10 feet long from grill to windshield so it absorbed all of the damage.  Very safe car for front impacts.

1957 Holiday 98 4 door hardtop. A relative bought it out of Ft Worth new in late 57/ early 58, and drove it back to where they lived in Iowa then passed away like a year later. My Grandpa and Grandma flew from Seattle out to where it was and drove it back in late 58, early 59 and it's been in the family ever since.  They drove it for a little bit here and there but mostly it stayed in the garage. I started dicking around with it in the late 90's, and was given it around 97/98 or so (Which technically makes it my first car?)

371 Rocket motor 277 hp 400 ft lbs of Tq (at 2800 rpm no less) , big ass 4 speed with super low gearing, super low rear gear as well. thing scoots for being 4300 lbs+
. Cruising at about 65-70  and letting off the gas makes everyone pitch forward from being pinned.
Leather and cloth seats, A/C power steering, power brakes, power seats, power windows...

Fun car, drove it around when in highschool a lot, did a lot of cruise ins and car shows. Unfortunately has been sitting a long time again due to working and living out of sate, and the increase in shitty driver in the Seattle area makes it spooky to drive because people fixate on it and start driving into it, or get blinded by all the chrome in the summer, and there is literally no way to defensibly drive it.... you are 100% locked on course at whatever speed you're going LOL.  Thing drives like a freight train.
