Edited post and title for clarity -

Co-workers dad has a 1995 Geo Tracker for $800.00

Supposedly mechanically sound (runs and can past inspections) but soft top is beat up and body is in ok condition.

Should I Fo or no Fo?

Would use it for DD and hunting

Softer than the jeep but still a worthy opponent

Going next week I hope to inspect it.

Anything I should look for (other than the usual stuff) that they are known for?

At thanksgiving last night everyone was telling me that they are a death trap and I will roll it  from what I have seen they seem pretty good little cars.  Are they any wider than the Sami's or is it the exact same vehicle under the hood?

I think I will need to upgrade the tire eventually.  Without a lift what size tires can fit underneath it?

From experience they get a little squirrelly on ice. The back end will slide very quickly, like any thing with that short a wheel base.
Loved mine till I wrecked it.
The flipping over thing was the samurai and the tracker/sidekick was supposed to be better.
Check out Zukiworld for specifics.

ETA: trackers are sidekicks underneath, not Samurais. So much so many call their conglomeration of parts-built ones TrackKicks
For that price you have a lot of $$ to play with for upgrades.
It really depends on which model the guy has (4x4/2x4, manual/auto, and engine size/ type)

I loved mine! It would go anywhere. Prone to rust, but easy enough to repair and cheap parts!

Wow I haven't seen one of those in a long time. Cool little vehicles for sure. I remember when the Geo Tracker was the grand prize on Supermarket Sweep way back in the early 90's

I wish I had bought something like this instead of a UTV.  From what I can tell, even the worst automotive part available at autozone is still several times better than the best UTV part you can find.

they only roll over if you dont know how to fucking drive.

3 wheelers, guns, all BS. Use it like you have some sense and that sumbitch will stay on 4 wheels, unless you WANT to ride on two or three, sometimes one

Is it 4x4?  Get it. They're all rusted out around here but even so I've had two and they have been very fun little toys.

As already stated - if it's a 4x4, go for it!

Talked to the guy today at work.  Next week I am going to drive it.

1993 is the year so it's a 8 valve instead of sixteen and has the automatic.

Sounds like it is in decent shape.  His parents are retired and have 4 cars and want to get rid of it.

The only problem so far is the rag top which is rotting away slowly (found online for about $200.00)

Getting excited
