I ran a forum for a few years and the spammers made me give it up. The reward just wasn't worth it to always have to kick spammers/bots flooding the site. |

Thanks for the tips. I'm looking at vBulletin. How easy is it for a non-programmer to set up and administer?
I also like JanRain for login through social media. I hope to link it the users LinkedIn profile. Would this reduce the spam? What was your typical hourly commitment per week to manage the forum? Thanks for the help. |

the forum software i use is phpBB3 https://www.phpbb.com/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhpBB it will run on almost any LAMP setup https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LAMP_%28software_bundle%29 you may also want to read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Internet_forum_software ar-jedi |
