Hey brother.

I'm with 1/7. Glad you made it back from Afghan safely! Were you a dog handler also? I was a dog handler back in 2008 for our Iraq deployment, but they ended up taking our dogs away right before we deployed, bastards.

Anyways, just wanted to send a shout-out from across the basketball courts. Yut

Worked for KBR in Iraq from March 2009 to August 2011. Started at Marez in Mosul, moved to Q-West, moved to Liberty, ended up at Victory.
I bought that gravel you all were tripping on everday in Iraq.

That was a Bible Study Group we got started at Camp Clark. It's about 45 min away from Salerno. I was fortunate enough to go through Salerno quite a bit in 2009. Those guys were amazing, you get to know them for 5 minutes and they'll let you requisition anything you want!

Definitely a solid group out there.  Started at BAF then went forward to 373 in '09.

Would have had more pics but at the time I had a really really crappy camera. These were all late 2006.

Local wildlife running for shelter.

My ugly mug.

Holding the remains of a 107mm rocket that landed about 15 yards from me...

...and what that rocket did to the Conex box. Front side.

Back side.

That rocket had hit at an angle so pretty much all the shrapnel was shot away from me. The CO's SUV did get speckled pretty good though. *snicker*
During another attack one of the rockets careened off a T-wall, shot through a conex box and out the other side, then entered a guy's B-hut and hit him in the freaking ankle, all without detonating. Lucky SOB has one hell of a story to tell now.

The air crews at FOB Salerno were pretty cool, let us take some pics on the flight line.

Picture and story. Every time I hear people talking about how we should pull out completely right now and leave the Afghans to their own devices, or "nuke them from orbit" I'm torn. I can see both sides. See the guy in the boonie cap? A joint patrol was cresting a ridge and the point team (An American PFC and an Afghan) were lit up by PKM. The Afghan was killed and fell down the ridge. The American hit the prone and returned fire but was shot through the clavicle and it exited his lower back. He was pretty messed up, and the guy in the boonie cap ran past his dead Afghan buddy and reached the wounded American first, trying his best to tend his wounds and return fire.

Causing trouble.

What's up brothers?

Couple of pics from my second deployment many years ago in Ramadi. As you see I have blurred/removed faces and name tags... It's not that I don't trust you all... it's that I don't trust the internet and some of the guys in these pictures have gone on to special forces etc etc... I don't need them getting in trouble or worse.

Sorry, not posting anything gory.

If you know me... Hollar!

C130 rolling down the strip.... We got the comfy chairs surrounding the gaggle**** we're standing in front of...

Poor National Guard. Shoved in there like sardines...

Tons of "range" time... loved the few months the Marine Corps was fascinated with flight suits in theater...

Various photos of Ramadi...

Probably gay together....

No one believed me they had a hand... cranked(sp?) Ferris wheel... pics or it didn't happen...

Setting on a roof in Ramadi off Main when President (Senator at the time) Obama came to make an appearance.... Had to have multiple scout sniper teams in overt positions so he could walk less than 10 feet (literally) out of one door into another. Obviously, at this point he was long gone...

I think this one is from first deployment (Baghdaddy)... can't remember though... good pic regardless....

Lots more but I have bored you enough.

Will do! Love the avatar btw.

More as requested.

Couple from first deployment...

Everyone remembers their first sandstorm...

Smile! You're famous!

Ramadi again...

Ate really well at one of the Sheik's places.. obviously there is a large disparity between this dude and those that have houses surrounding him...

One of our many assignments in Ramadi was escorting the intelligence teams around town... good part of the time to talk to these shady bastards...

Iraqi Police station.... from insurgents in uniform to finding unreported, un-exploded ordinance just laying around... these always made me the most nervous.

After all my bitching and complaining... counting the days down until EAS... I miss it like a mother f'er.

That's it for now... Semper Fi.
