First of all, thanks for taking a second to help me out. So here I am, in my final semester of evening law school. I've been a full time paralegal for a couple years, I have a bunch of experience in state and federal law, and I'm most likely lined up for a job at the firm I work at. For stove reason, tough, I found myself emailing recruiters and researching JAG corps all day.

I'm wondering if, given the opportunity to go back and do it again, would you? Why?

I'm just confused.

Thanks again, not only for your reply here, but for your service.

If you really want a ride, look into the Marine Corps' law program - USMC Judge Advocates (USMC equivalent to Navy JAG) are unrestricted line officers. It comes with a significantly different training and selection process from the other services' JAG programs. I don't have much civilian-side practice experience to compare it to, but its been a lot of fun and I've never looked back. Even if you are just a little interested, its worth looking up the nearest Officer Selection Station and asking some questions. Good luck.

Thank you both. Thus far the Navy has been the most receptive, and willing to contact me back. The only branch i actually haven't looked into is marine corps. from what i was told they have a smaller Judge Advocate section and are more competitive.

Some cool things about the Marine law program:
(a) You will go to OCS, which will force you to become a PT maniac if you are not already. You will need to score high first class on the PFT to even get a slot.
(b) You will go to TBS, run around in the woods, and learn a lot of fun stuff. I shot the M9, M16, M249, M60, Mk19, and M2.  You get to train for everything from urban combat to convoy operations.  It was fantastic.
(c) You will work with Marines.  "The change is forever" was a recruiting tag line, and I found it to be true.

Nothing against the other services.
