The most annoying thing about the blown (gifted) penalty call was the missed opportunity.

The correct call would have been a yellow card for Fred for simulation. It would also have sent the message that diving would not be tolerated and possibly set the tone for the entire tournament.

Of course, Yuichi Nishimura wanted to leave the stadium in one piece so it didn't happen.

I was hoping the Netherlands would win, but ended up feeling bad for Spain.  They're not a team who deserve losing 5-1.  They still have a chance though.

Will be cheering for England tonight.

The English missed some good opportunities.  Although it is hard to score against 11 Italian defenders.  Italians always shit on games like that.

Don't get me wrong, the English didn't deserve to win, but after the second goal, your countrymen did put up a human fence around the zone. It makes for frustrating game.   You didn't see the Dutch locking up like that when they were ahead.

We invented it and it works but despite the catenaccio we could have scored another two, believe me against the oranges catenaccio will not work so it depend of the team that we are playing ..... It's only the first game still a long way to go ... And the Germans looks really good

Man, what is it with the Iberian teams this year?  I was hoping Germany would win, but I didn't want Portugal to get completely slaughtered.  It looks like Muller is on a good start for another golden boot.

As for the US, I'm glad we secured third place in the group.

What !? Ii think you have no clue what you are talking about.....

Go read stats and see who was making actual play during that game.......

Both teams were exhausted after 70min, it's normal hat the winning team wasn't attacking like crazy....

If FIFA has any balls or integrity (which they don't) he'd be banned for the maximum 2 years.
