Wat, you mean Ansul Adams didn't use a Kodak brownie???????

I had the opportunity to do some work with a 5x7 linhof years ago, the lens iirc was about $500.

Ok maybe it's because I haven't had enough caffeine yet but I'm going to be different.  The fact that he got any image is pretty impressive with that big monster. And his composition is good.  BUT other than it's 'stunt' factor ( which I'll give you is high) the images were blurred (even the stills) and very under exposed.  Nothing done there that can't be done easier with a dslr.

I like most of them. I like the narrow depth of field he gets. I'm a bit surprised that they're not sharper.

As someone who shoots film, including 4x5 on a Graflex...I am not that impressed with these pictures.

Lol  Well, take a large format film camera capable of stunningly sharp pictures albeit at slow speeds and fail to get a sharp or even artistically fuzzy image of still subjects,(subjective I know) combine that with drastically underexposed images that further look amateurish in execution and THEN ask a bunch of photographers to admire the results, and you may get less then enthusiastic responses.

Am I impressed at the effort he put forth? ABSOLUTYLY.  Am I impressed at the results? Nope. I honestly believe a genuinely skilled photographer familiar with the capabilities and limitations of the equipment, would have come away with some genuinely awesome images.  Stuff worthy of hanging on a wall.

Or maybe I'm just a cranky grump.

I meant no offense and I really DO believe that what he attempted was cool as hell. I also know my results with that monster rig would've been vastly worse. So kudos to him for the effort.
