I think I have started a bit of a project.

Luckily clouds have been ordered for a few days.

Didn't get out much today. Had to take a picture of something, though. I set up another line of crayons.

Wow, that's nice.  Does that happen often or were you just in the right place at the right time?

Lived here for six years and I've never seen it look like that. El Nino has brought a lot of interesting and wet weather. We had showers all day yesterday and as I was leaving the studio I noticed a gap moving across the city on a webcam I watch. I rushed home and grabbed my gear and booked it up to the top of the Berkeley Hills. Right when I got up there the gap in the clouds was right of the frame and directly over the Golden Gate Bridge. The wind was wailing and blowing mist side ways all over my lens, so I ended up shooting it hand held in my truck through the passenger side window with my 70-200 from the drivers side... I was still getting rain on my objective. It was really special light.

Absolutely stunning.  Every once in a while these moments come up and I thank my lucky stars when I happen to have a camera handy.

FML.  Had the pleasure of humping it 9.88 miles through this crap today.  This is about as bad as it gets for a planting site.

Ha! Same day, similar shot (though mine doesn't have a cooperative bee in the frame ):

Smooth water looks nice, but I actually like the more frozen look on this one.

Nice pics!  The bee was definitely NOT cooperative.  I was trying to get him while he was on one of the flowers.  I started to get frustrated so I just snapped a bunch of pictures.  I didn't know he was even there until I went through the pictures after I got home.

He's right in between those extremes. His water is neither smooth nor frozen. For a frozen look, the ss would have to be a lot faster. Smooth, a lot slower.

Where it's at now, there's a bit of motion blur to imply the fast moving water, but not so much to blend it into a continuous stream.

I'm OK with it.

Yeah, that's why I said "more frozen". I wasn't very clear about it, but I liked that you could see the motion and the individual streams at once.

I took this on my Note 4 or other wise I would have slowed down the shutter.

This little project is panning out nicely.

A big thank you to the shithead woodpecker that interrupted me, forcing me to go longer to try and get him. Though the little bastard moved away by the time I swapped lenses, I got some great shots out of the set I shot afterwards.

That's a neat picture.  I'm assuming you use some software to combine them all?  Is it a similar process to HDR photos?

There's this amazing free software called Startrails.  Just take all the frames, load 'em in, choose a few simple options, and come back in about 30 minutes.

Just got back from a quick trip to Jackson to do some wedding planning. Only had a few minutes out at Mormon Row on our way to the airport. The Grand Teton was obscured by the clouds, but the place never disappoints.
