This may get me back into gaming.
I have been wanting to game pretty badly lately. Don't want to buy a PS4 or XBox One this late in that game. Thought about a Switch but nobody has them and the game library is pathetic. If I still want to game by the time this release comes around, I'll probably do it. |

I watched the livestream presentation of what it can do and some of the games that will be available and it looks amazing. I don't have a 4k tv and this may be just the excuse I need to buy one. At $499 it seems like a screaming bargain.
|
|
I won't be an early adopter, I just bought my Xbox One like 2 1/2 years ago, it's too soon for another major purchase.
I still have my 1080p TV that I bought in 2007. Next summer maybe. |

They're advertising liquid cooling and 4K at 60 fps.
That's pretty wicked for a console. |

I can build an AR for that
It does sound like MS may be knocking on PC performance for once, which should make a lot of folks happy. I've also replaced video games with shooting, hiking, off-roading, and regular team-based tactical training, so they don't really appeal to me any more. More power to those who enjoy them, though! |

Why so soon for another console, or is this an upgraded Xbox One that normally uses Xbox One games, but has better technical capability?

PC gamer experts, how impressive are the specs? View Quote |

Most console launches could be described with "I could buy [insert gun here] for that much". It is too rich for my blood but they said some time ago it would be a premium priced console for the people that want a premium console experience. That said, I thought it would be $599 but for some reason lately everybody was thinking $399. $499 seems about right to me but I think by time it actually launches one would be able to build a comparable PC for about that much. Granted, it isn't marketed towards people that would rather build a PC but I'm thinking the performance per dollar compared to a PC will be the same as when xbone/ps4 first launched, ps3/x360, etc etc. I think they huge step here will be attempting to bring 4k further into the gaming mainstream while also building a bridge to the PC side of things. Guess I'll trade in my Xbox One S. I got a 4k TV, so I might as well.

I had zero interest in this, but the backwards compatibility makes it a much more usable upgrade.

Got rid of my 360, games and orignal Xbox games a while back, don't want to buy them all up again.
Glad they're putting pressure on Sony to up their game. And the Switch comments... Nintendo isn't even in this game, they haven't been for a long time, they're in the 1st party game experience (that you can only get on their system) game. Switch is for Nintendo lovers and lovers of their IPs. No reason, unless you're broke, that you can't have a Switch and one of these modern consoles. Quoted:

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll be buying another xbox!
Now I need a 4k projector. This is going to cost too much. |

Really looking forward to Doom and Fallout 4 VR. Hopefully Fallout 4 will be available for PSVR.

I don't think it's (Xbox One X) going to sell. I don't see it attracting many people to buy their first Xbox, and I don't see many people that already have an Xbox want to spend the money to upgrade it.
They said that it won't have any exclusives, just run Xbone games better and at a higher resolution. The PS3 didn't sell well when it was that expensive, and it had ground breaking technology that even PC lacked (blu-ray) Exclusive games sell consoles more than anything. That's how Nintendo manages to stay afloat. Xbox completely lacks that this generation. |
|
The PC expo was lackluster to awful. Lawbreakers was the only thing that interested me. The big reveal was AOE1 Remastered. Kay.

Ubisoft had a good conference.
Too bad their games turn out to be garbage at launch. |

Recall the new, $150 "Elite" controller that everyone said was too expensive, & yet it flew off the shelf. Even MSFT underestimated the demand. The same thing could happen here. I will actually be surprised if we don't see it being leveraged through added in-game fidelity or enhanced VR or AR features. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Everything I'm seeing is saying that it's a "liquid vapor chamber" or something along those lines. Not true liquid cooling which I think is a good thing, why introduce an unnecessary failure point View Quote Vapor chamber based heatsinks are more efficient for their size so they are a good choice for a thermal and size constrained device. |

Will there be games that are made for the Xbox X that aren't playable on my one?

Nope, everything will run on the One, some will just get 4k graphics upgrades or run at a higher resolution or FPS on the X. Just an upgrade to the platform instead of a replacement. Pretty sure MS is going to run the Xbox OS for a good while and just keep doing incremental updates. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I'm psyched about the AoE remake.
That game defined my highschool years with gaming friends, I was king of the school, we'd play it in the programming lab, science class and have weekend LAN parties. When I got to college AoE II came out and I felt it didn't have the same flare or game play, enjoyed it though but not as much. Never played 3. So I will be picking this game up on day 1 and playing it with my kids, hopefully it'll support LAN play (although at modern web speeds it probably wouldn't matter). |

View Quote Then when I did buy it I found them to be continually dicking with things. Party chat still doesnt work nearly as well as it did on the Xbox 360. The menus are a confounded stupid pile of shit designed by idiotic herp derp retards. There is no way in hell I will buy another one of their shitty assed systems if they are going to subscribe to being a social media experiment rather than something is meant to play games. Oh and then there is the DCMRA bullshit with many games not working unless you sign in and connect to the mother fucki g goddamn internet. Nearly took my Xbone out and smashed it on the ground after it refused to let me play any of my games after an update. I shouldnt have to unplug the damn pile of shit a half dozen times trying to get it to release some kind of memory to reboot so it properly logs into my account so I can play a fucking game. The updates. My god, just stop. I just want to play the damn games and it keeps changing shit with many of the updates. Their shit sucks same as every windows version since Windows 7. God damn it I hate them. It isnt about the money for me. It is the fact that they deliberately fuck with things that worked. They screw with muscle memory or what you were used to. They sell you a bag of lies that this new way is better when in fact it takes more steps and more layers of bullshit while simply not working. AngryJoe's interview with the microsoft retards back during the Xbone release shows what kind of jackasses are at microsoft. Hopefully those schmucks learned from it and they will be back to an actual gaming console. |

GODDAMNIT!!
I fucking knew Activision was going to puss-out and go the politically correct route with CODWW2! No buy unless they make it historically accurate, and I really want this game. |
|
|
No Nazi flags, because the sugar cookies all over the world find it offensive.
Why even make a WW2 game then? ETA: Some people on other forums were saying it's apparently just a censored trailer for global release, and the actual game will be accurate. Hope so. |

Those shirts are the gayest thing I've ever seen. View Quote I was a MS developer for a long time, so any events I went to, conferences etc their people would wear crap like this, I'd get shirts and never wear them. At least now moving over to Apple after the iPhone came out apple events just say WWDC __Year, etc, none of this obnoxious crap. They're simply trying too hard. XB1X is cool, but it's the only thing they can do I guess. They're not a game company like Nintendo, so the best they can hope for are more 3rd party games. Not owning a XB1 at all I'm slightly inclined only because there's a few exclusives I'd be interested in playing, but I also have a PC and I can play them on there. Oh well. |
|
|
Ubisoft. Wow.
I don't care about the controversies, because Far Cry 5 looks like it could be the best one yet. Day one, right there. Also they actually made a full blown, new IP, pirate game based on Black Flag. Another day one purchase. |

That would be my guess as well, doesn't Europe have laws about this stuff and that's why their versions can't have Swastikas? View Quote |
