Also, if you have not backed already and would like LTI, see this thread: LTI Conversion Emporium on how to have a veteran backer create LTI'ed ships/packages for you.

The new Xbox and PS4 both have 8, so it's not like it's an amazing feat, but the fact that it's the minimum is what surprises me. There are LOTS of boxes that don't have half that amount of RAM. |

Quoted: MoCap video. Chris mentions the *MINIMUM* memory requirement will probably be 8 gig. LOL. http://youtu.be/IBJA4yjzSPI I liked their motion capture shoot with the naked chick better. What blows my mind is this game is being made on a comparatively low budget for an AAA title yet they were able to purchase/build their own motion capture studio to make the game and you have other much more expensive games with shitty animation and much larger budgets (I'm looking at you Aliens: Colonial Marines). |

Star Citizen is not being designed with low end PCs in mind. With the level of fidelity they are striving for they are pushing the envelope. You'll want at least a mid range PC to play it at release (which is 1.5 years away). 8 gigs minimum it not surprising at all. |
|
But with the general release in 2014, they're expecting computers to be ahead from where they are now. Early adopters (alpha/beta testers) will eagerly upgrade to meet the minimum.

Krazny13 - Hornet, might snag a Freelancer.
And 8 GB? Pfft. I've been running 32 for almost a year. . . . Quoted:
Do you have a package or just the ships? I think the Avenger looks too fat in the back, but I have to do a stat comparison between the Avenger and the Cutlass and see which one I could use for a little, uhhh, friendly, towing, blood stain removal and salvage service... Kharn I got the Digital LTI Colonel package. So 7k credits, Alpha/Beta access, Squadron 42 download + disc, and a bunch of skins/add ons. Including a repair bot. . . |
|
Don't forget the map. I spent $5 for it then realized it comes with the digital col package. Melt that map and probally put it to another ship prior to lti runs out for me next Nov.

Glad I stumbled upon this thread, had no idea this game was in development. I have been itching for a MMO like this since Tie Fighter.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like the only restriction in this game in terms of exploration is player skill (and your ships equipment to a lesser extent). So for us casual gamers who join a guild can play with said guild any time without getting "out-leveled, by power levelers". So sure my starter ship may not survive as long in a dogfight, but that doesn't mean I can't contribute in large raids since there is no restriction to group sizes or "raid level requirements". That one factor alone which has been the impediment to me enjoying MMOs over all these years might just make this the best game eva. I don't care if I have the worst ship and always die first, as long as I can log on and play with the 87th I think it will be a blast. Although I could be completely off base in how I read up on this game. |

I'll be playing the game with several friends.
* Retaliator *350R *Gladiator *M50 probably pick up a connie, hornet, and 325a before nov 26th. |

I'll probably be picking up one of the connie or hornet variants when those are announced

Here's something I just thought of. If you're playing with an Occulus rift, I wonder if you'll want more VRAM like people do who use multimonitor setups for gaming. I know the rift cuts the resolution in half so each eye sees 960x1080, but does this have the same system resource requirements as 1920x1080 or is it more RAM/GPU intensive? I'm trying to decide whether to get a 2GB or 4GB card when I upgrade my graphics card. I've currently got a 25" monitor or so and I'm not sure if I'll be upgrading to a larger and higher native res monitor in the future or running dual monitors, but I do want a Rift. I'm leaning towards an Nvidia GTX 760 atm, but a 770 may be a possibility as well.

I don't think I'll be getting a Rift unless they're a good price and will really influence the game in that much of a positive way. I do think I'll be running a triple monitor setup and if they do the tablet support a dedicated tablet for all the sensor, engine and comm controls. |

How the hell am I so late to this party? Missed the kickstarter and everything
Payday tomorrow, Steam summer sale has left the wallet a little light. I'm signing up for sure. |

Alpha/beta access. Kharn Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile View Quote Guess that makes sense for 1 package, but seems like many people have a bunch of ship packages. Also, how are we going to roll this 87th squadron? From what I have been reading squads could be setup to: -Ambush/piracy/bounty hunting (I expect this is mostly work for fighters) - Long haul cargo convoys (needing light escort protection on established trade routes) - Deep space mining (needing heavy escort since most of the valuable mining is likely in pirate space outside of EEU protection) - Deep space exploration (probably good to run a mix of fighters and freighters to fight off pirates and find salvage). So it seems like as long as everyone has a fighter then they would be able to join up with whatever the 87th is doing on such and such night. And once we discover how profitable running cargo can be we can setup some sort of profit sharing for those who are being hired out as escorts. |

They nixed the package resale stuff that was going on.
Dropping some coin on the $40 package for now, hopefully upgrade at a later date when my wallet isn't as squeezed. EDIT: I'm all signed up, NIU Goalie on there as well. |

As for the resales they didn't ban it, just putting up sale/trade-type posts on their forums. They wanted to keep themselves out of having to deal with scam fallout.

View Quote Do we have a Arfcommer willing to set somethintg up? If I'm gonna spend some money on that, I'd like to see it go to an Arfcommer. I can also pay in med capacity magazines (Keep in mind I'm Army. Med cap to me means 30 rounds 5.56 and 15 rounds 9mm)or genuine US Army surplus gear that has seen service in either Iraq, Afghanistan or high risk inspections during barracks layouts. Any ten year old MRE koolaid packets found in pouches are a non standard bonus item. Like a golden ticket. |

My concern would be how the tablet would integrate into the Rift, I'm worried we'd have to choose between awesome interface and awesome 360deg visual ability. Kharn |
