ETA: This is now USPA training thread, so I don't shit in the body challenge thread with all my shit. Hah!

USPA NV State Championships were today. I competed in SHW (>308 class) and I went 8 for 9 on my lifts even though I was weaker than I planned on due to 3+ wks of pneumonia towards the end of training for this meet. Worlds Strongest Man competitor Nick Best was there in the 308 class and smashed records in EVERY Raw category including destroying Eric Lilliebridge's all time raw record, all time total, and a few USPA All-time records. It was his first powerlifting compeititon in FIFTEEN years. Dude came in and destroyed the fuck out if it. Amazingly humble and nice dude, talked to him several times and he was very friendly. In fact, EVERYONE was very friendly.

429 Raw - a Raw PR for me.

264 - I went on to fail 307 at my 3rd attempt. I was gassed out from making the mistake of not eating anything between squats and bench.

452 Raw - another Raw PR. Halfway up I was thinking "I should've gone for 500".

All in all, a great day. And when I was watching the top lifters in their classes get called for awards, this happened:

Trying to get friends to see if they got any video of Nick Best. Some monster lifters showed up to support him, and others - but not compete. Including Eric Spoto and Brandon Allen.

That's pretty cool.  I'm not familiar with the competition stuff, but I can definitely see how it would be motivating and a good time.

Good job.

So, this beast came in the mail today. Rogue S35-E Sled.

Tonight is a conditioning night. I am going to go do sled drags and sprints until I puke. And then do some more.

And then I am going to make my lifting buddy do it too.

Because I am a hateful fuck.

God hates a pussy.

I still need to get some better knee sleeves (when I did gear check for the State meet, they were like "really? you're using these pieces of shit?"). I have to try and save up to either get SHP Comps or Iron Rebel Performance . The SHP guys are a local startup company and their gear is really nice, but I know the Iron Rebels are top quality. Either way, $$. Then I need to get some elbow sleeves. Leaning towards the Iron Rebel ones. I won't have either of them by my next meet due to finances, but hopefully in the next six months.

I've been begging the gym owners to get a reverse-hyper or a glute ham raise for a while now. No luck. So I am going to start fabricating one when I get the steel and materials together and just donate it to the gym. Already have a set of plans.

My math is pretty suspect, but I calced that you totaled 1146 for your first meet?  That seems pretty good to me.  What were the numbers on the podium?

Yep 1146. I was hoping to break 1200 but the illness put me too far behind.

I want 1350+ @ 308 class at my next one.

So went in tonight and discovered that my gym installed not one but TWO Rogue Oly Platforms this morning, and brought in 500lb of Rogue bumpers. FUCKING AWESOME. Love this gym, the owners listen to us and buy us cool shit when they can.

I've been looking for some chains, and 3/8" (1.5lb/ft) runs about 5.90 a foot here. Happened to be wandering through Harbor Freight and found it in buckets of 15' lengths for 30 bucks (45 lb for 2 15' chains on my scale). Bought two. Some chain collars are in the mail, and I will be getting some smaller diameter chain to hang these chains lower once they're bolted into bunches so that I can get maximum effectiveness out of them. Want to buy two more buckets of chain, too when money allows.

Squatted in my new StrongHouse Project Comp knee sleeves. These things are fucking badass. The only downside is I ordered them in competition fit (1 size down) and literally have to cover my legs in baby powder and fight them on because I have 18" knees and 20" calves. . Once they're on they fit great, though.

Squat day was last night.

So I worked up to 405x4x4

And then I think I went a little bit insane and decided tonight was a good night to hit some PR's.

First PR was 455.

Second PR was 475.

Some dipshit forgot the record button, but Third PR was 495.

And then, I figured what's an extra 5 lb, right? Let's go for an even 500.
But as I hit bottom, I realized that I was entirely out of gas, and bailing on this was not a fun experience.

I don't think the "safety arms" or the bars in my gym were meant to take a 500lb bail....

This morning I was unable to get out of bed, and I crawled to the shitter.

Pounded some electrolytes with a healthy dose of BCAAs and glutamine, ate some babnanas, and took a lacrosse ball to my quads (lots of shouting "FUCK!") and I feel better.

All because of your brutal satan-spawned training program. I'm ending my 2nd cycle now and heading into the 3rd soon.
None of my friends want to play with me, though. Something about too much volume..

Bitches.

ETA: Next week when I get back from Texas I am going to try and challenge a buddy to squats 5x20x225 or however we can hack it to hit 100reps. We'll call it a "deload day".
